Home Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

oh Tacori, big hugs sweetie. I do think it is good news that your cervix is softening because that does mean that the final stages of labor are near. so, although you didn''t get the news you''d hoped for, you still got some good news which is things are progressing. I''m sorry you dr. is making you wait until 41 weeks, i thought mine was conservative making me wait until 39 weeks (lily came right before) but still. I honestly believe you will go into labor this week and not pass your due date and if you do, well nothing wrong with a Nov. b-day, i''ve got one
2.gif

one handed....

T, hang in there!!! I was barely 1cm and long at all my appts. My doc told me sex was a natural inducer (sperm softens the cervix). I certainly wasnt in the mood, but we DTD almost every other night the last week, including the night that things got started. It will happen!!!!

Gad every one else is well too... I still owe you guys picsand story, but i cant do that right now!

Tacori, you havent passed your e.d.d. yet so try not to worry/think about going longer until it comes. With my daughter I had a checkup on a Friday in which my ob/gyn said I was closed tight as can be. Well, I had my daughter 8am Sunday morning. Cervix changes are not a guarantee that you will deliver now or later, they only offer a guesstimate. Hang tight momma, do whatever you can to keep busy or just rest & watch t.v. pretty soon you are going to be consumed with caring for baby

regular intervals of Nipple stimulation is supposed to help bring on labor, wouldnt hurt to try, right?

sorry duplicate.

Tacori,
I know it''s not what you wanted to hear from the doctor when he said that he wouldn''t induce until 41wks.
Chin up though since your cervix is softening. Like MrsS said, it''s a sign of things progressing.
You may very well go on your own within the next couple of days and may not even have to talk with the doctor about induction.
Who knows, maybe baby T senses how upset mommy is right now and is working her way out.
1.gif

If not, then you get to spend some alone time with your mom for the first few days before the baby comes.

In the meantime, have hubby give you a shoulder and hand rub at those acupuncture points that nytemist suggested.
Then there''s the herbal tea and DTD
41.gif

Thanks for the support and hugs ladies. DH brought home a chocolate shake to cheer me up
30.gif
It was sweet of him. My mom said she would stay longer need be. I feel much better now. Obviously the baby isn''t ready (or my body isn''t). So we''ll just wait it out and someday in the next few weeks I will be able to make my big announcement. I just hope the baby doesn''t get too big in there
23.gif

Just for fun here is my 39 week belly. I am going to go take a nap

Hang in there Tacorie, the end is near and soon a very exciting new beginning begin...Big hugs for you...

Hi moms and moms-to-be

Diver: delany is BEAUTIFUL! and jake is such a cute big brother

NJC: CONGRATULATIONS!!! I can''t wait to see adorable baby pictures. i know you have to have heaps

Tacori: Hang in there! your little bundle will be here any moment. I can''t imagine how frustrating it must be to be so close, but not have the slightest bit of control...but you''ll get there.

Mommabear: Congratulations!!! you have an amazing attitude! very inspiring

ellaila: you have to be the cutest mom-to-be ever! your photo session is stunning. you look amazing and those pictures are so precious

I haven''t been posting on PS AT ALL. I recently started a new job where the hours are a lot more demanding. So basically, work has cut into my internet browsing time
9.gif
however, I have still been following this thread!! it''s so exciting to go along for the ride. My husband and I are still just in the "talking about it" stage, but I think that we might seriously think about starting a family this summer.

i''ve learned so much already from this thread, so THANKS!

Aw, Tacori -- hang in there! At the most you''ve got, what, 12 days till you meet your little baby -- 12 days! That''s nothing! I know it seems like an eternity right now, but before you know it, you''ll be nuzzling that sweet little baby and not even remembering life before his/her arrival! Sending you a virtual chocolate shake and a hug!

njc, glad you checked in! Hope little Jonathan is doing well and that he''s letting Mommy get at least a little shut-eye from time to time? We can''t wait to see photos and hear stories, but I''m sure life is a little hectic at the moment, so we''re trying to be patient ... trying ... trying ... And I still can''t believe that you DTD every other day in your last week. My husband would be happy with once a month at this stage! I''m just so darn uncomfortable and tired sometimes that I can''t imagine doing anything that requires that much effort on my part. Am I a bad wife?

hiya Lulu!! Did you say that work has cut into your Internet browsing!? Blasphemy!
2.gif
Thanks for the compliment re: the photos ... maybe we''ll see some from you next year at this time!

For Tacori:

Aw Tacori, hang in there! And cheers to your DH for the chocolate shake!

You remember my friend who just gave birth? She went in last Wednesday and she was only 2 cm dilated and going nowhere (the previous appointment, it was 1 cm). Of course, that appt she found out the kid was sunny side up too. She cried the whole morning, she said.

Then the next day her water broke and she started to go. She was fully dilated at 5 am on Friday morning.

The body is weird...can''t predict it. Hang in there...the light is at the end of the tunnel and it''s not a train!
2.gif

Diver, I LOOOOVE that willis pic of Delaney. I just laughed and laughed. Soooo cute!!!

Rib cage expanding? I just thought it was just overall fat I was feeling. But yeah, I heard that too.

Curlygirl, thanks for your experience with your amnio. No worries, no one is going to make me feel bad for being honest. Different strokes for different folks, and I understand that. And truth be told...who KNOWS what I would REALLY do...you know what I mean? Oh, and your friend''s birth sounded a lot like my friend''s. Pushing and pushing and squat. I saw my friend yesterday and she said that even though "the worst" happened, it wasn''t that bad. She was really afraid of having to go through labor, only to get a c-section. I think women sometimes forget we are made of some seriously tough stuff.

I''m finally getting my flu shot this Thursday. NO ONE knew anything about the new laws when I visited both my ob and the screening specialist last week. What is it about doctors (not my ob, but the blood drawer guy) who make you feel like you are lame for doing your research? I''m not convinced that thimersol does anything in relation to autism, but if there IS a flu shot available without it and if it''s the stinkin LAW in this state that you can''t give shots with thimersol to preggo women, why WOULDN''T I seek it out? Sheesh. Fortunately my friend works in a doc''s office and they have the thimersol free shots and she is getting me a deal to go in there since my insurance won''t cover the doc''s visit in her office (they don''t take HMO).

In other news...my belly itches! Ack! I got some palmers cocoa butter as I have heard good reviews. I know only genetics determines stretch marks, and I really don''t care about them at this point. I look like a monkey itching myself all over.

I still think I look fat vs. pregnant. I''m actually looking forward to my belly really bulging a bit so I don''t just feel porky. Or maybe that has to do with the burgers I''ve been eating. Hehehe. Trying to be good most days, but man...once in a while I need a treat!

Jas, I was SURE last week that I felt a lot more movement. Since then, it''s been very very quiet in there. These babies start early in making you think you are going koo-koo.
41.gif

Tacori: Don''t despair honey! My friend Maria went in a week before her d.d. for her ob appt, and our doctor (we have the same guy) told her she was closed up tight...no dilation, no effacement, no softening. So she assumed that meant "baby is not coming" (not his words....her assumption). She had planned to spend the week washing baby clothes, putting together gear, installing carseat, etc. Ummm..... THAT NIGHT at 11pm her water broke!!! She called me in hysterics, freaked out...she didn''t get all her to do list done. LOL. so don''t obsess over dilation/effacement...it means NOTHING. My friend Kelly walked around dilated 3cm and 75% effaced for a MONTH before she got induced (the day after her dd). I walked around dilated 2cm and 75% effaced for about 2 or 3 weeks as well!

Thanks for the compliments on my baby girl. She''s a lover bug. She is a whopping 10lbs now! yowza! Speaking of...little miss just woke up..must go feed my lil'' piglet...will be back in a few.

Thanks ladies. I do feel better now. I was just disappointed and frusterated. Nap and ice cream cures all
1.gif
I still have 5 days til I am offically overdue. I am glad my mom will be here. It will be a good distraction. She is going to come to my next appointment. That way she can hear the heartbeat and maybe...convince the doctor to induce a little early
11.gif
It will all work out in the end. I still am holding out hope for the full moon. I can''t to find out if it is a girl or a boy!!!

NJC, the thought of DTD every other day makes me want to cry more! I am not sure I am that desperate...yet...

Lili, I never responded but my rib cage got 2" larger (I guess based on the bras I bought). I wore regular bras from Kohls (love their prices).

TGal, I hated that fat stage too. I popped arounf 18 weeks. I didn''t feel the baby for sure until 20. Your friend''s store gives me hope for sure. Maybe baby just wants to be on time.

Bobo, how are you feeling?

Lovely, the talks of TTC is very exciting!!!

Ella, thanks for the hug and the virtual shake.

Diver, she is precious. I can''t believe she is a month already. Thanks for your friend''s story. Very encouraging. I have been ready for weeks. I really thought I was going to go early. HHAHHAHAHA! Silly Tacori.
20.gif

I just had to share an update on my rampant baby fever... as of this month, I am officially OFF birth control... yippee!!! Our plan was to use other methods until at least Dec/Jan... but to my (pleasant!) surprise, DH announced that he thinks we should just see what happens instead.
9.gif

I'm pretty sure we missed the window this month, and I had irregular cycles before birth control (8 years ago), so I'm anticipating crazy cycles starting up again now... and we won't be actively charting or anything for a while... but despite all that, I'm excited!!! To think I've spent my whole life dreaming of being a mommy, and now all the sudden it's such a real possibility... suffice it to say, it's a great feeling.
1.gif

So if anyone's got any spare baby dust, send it this way please.........
2.gif

ephemery1, I had irregular cycles, didn''t chart AND somehow got preggo the first month (We didn''t even DTD that much) so ANYTHING can happen. Sending lots of baby dust your way. Good luck.

TravelingGal, I know what you mean about the flu shot law, my family doctor don''t know the law either. the flu shot they have contain thimersol. And people seems surprise when you ask about it. My family doctor won''t give me the shot at first because he said he just don''t give flu shot to preggo woman because there isn''t enough test done on it.

But my OB call him and apparently they had a long chat...I was at my appt last week and she said she talked to him and educated him on how import it is to get flu shot while preggo. I don''t know...I still feel confuse about it. My husband is set of me not getting the shot, he doesn''t feel comfortable with it so are my family. I''m just scare if I get sick it will be bad for my baby..
40.gif
so much to think about when your pregnant..

Tacori, I''m doing ok. just getting bigger and bigger (some how my nose is getting bigger too, I told my friends and family that it''s competing with my stomach)
9.gif

Tacori--
So glad you are feeling better. I agree. A good cry and a shake followed by a nap always help.
Thanks for the info on Kohl's. There is one near my place, so I'll swing by later this week and see what they have.
I couldn't find anything fitting this past weekend when I went to Motherhood.
Either the cups were too small or the band is too big.
ETA: Love the new belly shot. I think it looks smaller than the previous week. Either that or your boobs got bigger
3.gif

TGal and Bobo,
I did ask my doctor about the flu shot. He highly recommends it. Initially, I was set on not getting it
with all this talk about thimersol and the fact that I got sick the one year that I got the flu shot.
Anyway, my OB sort of scared me to get one when he said that a possible miscarriage if I should get sick.
Fortunately for me, the hospital that I go to have both type of flu shots (thimersol and thimersol-free).
He told me to get the thimersol-free one.

Bobo, I swear my nose is bigger too! And I got an extra chin! I feel so beautiful.

Lili, thanks. I think my belly looks different depending on what I am wearing. The tighter the shirt the smaller it looks. Or maybe the baby changed position
33.gif
Who knows. Kohl's always has sales too so I think when I bought mine they were buy one get one free (or 50% off, can't remember). Warning if you have grown a lot (or already have bigger boobs) styles and colors are limited once you hit D/DD. Or maybe they were just sold out. I found some from maidenform that I really liked (but both the underwires have popped out in the last week) They lasted 6 months so I can't complain too much. My girls needed a little more support that most nursing bras offer. I am very sad to give up my underwires (for BFing) Oh well. I guess I will get used to them.

I am not getting a flu shot but I am also so close to the end it doesn't seem worth the possible risk.

ETA: oh I have dropped some so that might be why my belly looks smaller too.

Hang in there Tacori. So glad your Mom is coming and will be at your next appointment. Best wishes your way!!!!
1.gif

Oh, Tacori! I feel for you! It must be so hard in the final days having to wait each one out! I have to say that your belly is absolutely adorable, though. I bet you will be very glad you took that photo! You probably have no idea now how special this time will seem to you when looking (safely) back on it years from now!

I agree with Lisa: hang on!

Hugs,
Deb
34.gif

Thanks Deb and Lisa. I am sure it will work out for the best. I was just upset that my body doesn''t seem to be progressing. My mom never got a chance to feel any kicks so I know she would enjoy that (if I am still preggo). They are so strong now you can see my stomach moving. I am sure hearing the heartbeat will make her cry. She already told me she is going to be an emotional wreck if she is there when I deliver. Deb, I felt silly taking pictures at first but now I wish I started sooner! I also have a pregnancy journal (called Belly Book) where I track my doctors appointments, milestones (like movement) and general emotions and feelings. As cute as my belly may look my back will be grateful when it is over. Plus I am looking forward to my stretch marks to fade.
14.gif

lili, thanks. I am getting one and probably would have gotten one even if the thimersol free weren''t available. It''s very bad if a woman in her 3rd trimester gets the flu, so I''ve read. Bobo, I believe both you and I will be in our 3rd tri in peak flu season, so maybe you should reconsider or read up on it a bit more?

Tacori, it might be worth it for you to get the shot AFTER the baby is born to protect it that way. TGuy has never gotten a flu shot, but he is getting one as well as flu season runs until April.

Ephemery...baby dust your way - lots of it!!

Good luck, Ephemery! You''re in Boston (Brookline), right?

As for flu shots, I asked both my pediatrician and my OB, and they both said for me to NOT get one while preggo. My ped. said to get one ASAP after giving birth though. My OB said that he has to give me the "Yes you should get one" answer as a doctor, but that he personally thinks that if I''m uncomfortable with it (which I am -- I''ve never had one before and don''t know how my body will react to it) that I shouldn''t do it. And that it only protects against one strain of the flu anyway, so there''s no guarantee that even if you get the shot that you still won''t get another strain of the flu. So for me, no shot. I just feel more comfortable NOT getting it.

Like all things pregnancy-related, it seems like every doctor has his/her take on it, so you have to rely on a mix of trust in your doctor, your own knowledge/research, and that maternal instinct that tells you whether something is right for you or not!

my dr. hasn't mentioned it to me. I'll ask him during my next visit. I have never gotten a flu shot either so unless he says to do it, I'll skip it too.

ETA: ok, my sister has the same dr. and is there right now for an appt. she'd going to ask him what he thinks. If he says to do it, i'll have to hunt down the t-free one's, who knows if anyone here in tn even gets them in
4.gif

Thanks for the baby dust!! And Tacori, darn you for giving me hope for this month when I thought there was none... hehe.
31.gif
Now I''ll be counting down the next two weeks. Ella, I am actually in Philadelphia... my college BFF was from Wellesley, but that''s the closest I''ve ever gotten to Boston! But if/when we do get pregnant, we will be raising a city baby here in Philly for the first year or so... so much fun.
1.gif

Sorry eph! We were as shocked as everyone. I had no idea I was so fertile. I have already discussed BC with my doc. I do NOT want to get preggo again anytime soon. He suggests BC pill AND condoms while BFing. Also, not sure how long you have followed this thread but I have cystic ovaries...didn''t cause a problem obviously. So my point is you just NEVER can tell. That is why I panic when girls try before their weddings just to start (not thinking their wil get preggo)
38.gif
M/S and wedding/honeymoon....they do not go well together I imagine! The two week wait is a hard one for sure!

I have only had the flu shot once. I hate to jinx it with a week or two left but I have not gotten sick throughout my whole pregnancy (flu, cold, etc...) I have been lucky!

My mom already called me today to make sure I was okay. I feel much better. Thanks for all the support. I am okay with whatever happens (even if it means being induced 11/5). I have waited this long I can wait a little longer (and maybe it won''t even be an issue). I am going to take this week and just enjoy it as much as I can. Sleep in everyday (maybe with naps too!). Shop w/o a stroller. Paint my nails. Read a book. It will be a ME week.

TravelingGal, my belly itch bad too....I bought some vitamin E oil from Trader Joe''s and use that on my belly...so far so good...

ellaila, that is exactly how I feel...mix signals from my doctors. I don''t feel comfortable getting one after one of the doctor is strongly against it...I think I will do a lot of hand washing and stay out of public place as much as I can..

Vit E oil and Palmer''s Cocoa Butter twice a day eased the itching for me.

Tacori, having a "me week" sounds perfect! I remember a friend telling me how much she missed having a hot cup of coffee and taking long showers after her baby was born -- so savor those things while you can! Read something non-baby-related, take naps and long showers, and just enjoy the calm before the storm
2.gif

^^That is soooo true. You should see how happy I get when I can grocery shop or go anywhere for that matter without having to drag my daughter in & out of the car. I mean, how many people get excited to grocery shop?
