Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Coming out of lurkdom over here...

Diver -- Delaney is gorgeous! I love her outfit! She looks so cuddly.

Tacori -- Tessa is adorable!

Ella -- I''ve been reading this thread often and I know how close you are now to seeing the babies. I can only imagine how that must feel.

MrsS, old navy has some cute boy stuff too! Gotta check it out. I tell myself that things will get easier about 100 times a day. Last night was a rough one. I haven''t had more than 3 hours of straight sleep since I went to the hospital. It''s starting to take its toll.

Thanks Skippy! I figured it was time to change my AV since she is here (and much cuter than her u/s). I have some better photos that I still need to upload so it will change again soon.

Ella, so weird to look at the u/s and compare it to her. How funny she sleeps with her butt in the air (like if you have her on her tummy, on your chest). I bet that is what she is used too since I always felt her butt.

Thanks Zoe!

So I cried yet again when my mom left today. I hate how now that I am a mom I feel MORE like a little girl than an adult. I will not see her for 2 months (which normally is not a big deal. I have gone 6 months w/o seeing my parents before but now that Tessa is born it is hard for me being away from them). This is just very overwhelming.

aww hugs tacori. i am so blessed that my mom lives in the same city as me and once we move i will probably cry everytime we leave one another too. You'll soon find, now that your a mommy, you will cry at a bunch of things you probably never cried about before.
as for the sleeping or lack thereof, it is the hardest part I think, plus, I actually get a little grumpy when I don't get enough sleep making everyone else around me grumpy too
40.gif
I used to feed Chloe like at 6:00am and then hubby would take her out of the bedroom so I could go back to sleep for a couple of hours. see if you can find some time where you hubby can take her so you're not sleeping lightly *listening* for her and you might be able to feel a little more rested....

HI:

Diver and Tacori--what adorable babies
1.gif
, I could just cuddle them up!!

cheers--Sharon

Awww Tacori,
I know how hard it must have been to see your Mom leave to go home. She''s only a phone call away, and you have all of us to help you. You''re a great Mom to baby Tessa. It''s going to get easier and easier as the time goes by, so hang in there. It''s normal to be scared when you''re on your own. But you''re not alone....
2.gif

Just doing a quick driveby--haven''t read all the posts but hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is feeling great.

DIVER!!! Is that the leopard dress from the Gap on Delaney?! Lily wore the same one on Thanksgiving!!!!! I have to post the pic as soon as I get it on the computer. Too cute!

Hang in there, Tacori! Like Kaleigh says, your Mom is only a phone call away, and you''ve got a ton of support here and in the Mommies thread too! I think that once Tessa starts sleeping better, everything will seem a lot less overwhelming. Can''t wait to see new pix of her in her Thanksgiving outfit!

So I''m starting to go a little nuts with being home all the time. Though I''m not technically on bedrest, I feel like I''m on house arrest since walking around isn''t really much of an option for me anymore. I''ve been going out with Q on errands and I''ll stay in the car with a book just so I can get out of the house! I''ve also been baking a lot since it''s usually pretty quick and easy (not too much time on my feet), and it makes me feel productive ... and hmm, I wonder why I''m at the top of the range for weight gain for twins, eh? In the past few weeks, I''ve made those pumpkin-chocolate muffins, oatmeal cookies, chocolate rice krispie things (mentioned in holiday dessert thread), pumpkin bread, cornbread ... somebody stop me!!!!

I had started knitting a sweater for a friend''s baby a while ago, but I just found out that they''re dressing him in only organic fabrics now, so I just unravelled my sweater and am going to knit my boy some booties instead (am I a bad Mom for not caring if my cotton is organic or not?!). I''ve got some girlier yarn downstairs too but since I''m not doing stairs, I can''t get it, so maybe tomorrow will be girl booties day once hubby can get the yarn for me!

Hope you''re all doing well!

Beautiful new avatar Tacori!!!
-A friend of mine recently told me that the first few months of being a new mom was purely survival for her--and nothing else. She said it was a blur and she basically felt like she was a boob for feeding and a messy-looking weary-eyed woman for the rest of the world. I know some women have an easier time than others and I think sleep is the key ingredient. It is so much easier to deal with the everyday stuff when you''ve had a solid chunk of sleep to run on and a bit of engergy. It all goes back to that mantra "you can better take care of others when you take care of yourself" --ha, if only you could let a newborn in on that little secret!

Hugs to you--you''ll get through it, and when you do you can comfort me when I am in your shoes in a few months

Ella--almost Dec.!!! I don''t blame you for having babies on the brain 24/7--you are reallllllly close!

Diver--great TG pic!

Mrs.S. ''Boy'' shopping must be fun--you can justify the new spending-hehe. If you were having a girl I am sure you''d be thinking ''well, i could just use xyz over again for the new baby''

I bought a change table/dresser and a few other things for the nursery this weekend--still haven''t come up with ''a look'' yet. i am working with a small space so I need to be careful of my furniture choices etc. I am hoping I''ll find something for inspiration.

Ok, maybe not. Maybe I''ve been hanging out in a house full of men too long.....

My little cutie pie just turned ONE! We had cake, balloons, noise makers, etc but the poor baby could not eat cake because we just found out that he has a true milk allergy (hives, choking, diarrhea, etc). I can''t believe he''s approaching toddlerhood already. He''ll always be my baby to me. Sniff sniff...

Happy Birthday, Baby Chrono!!! Bummer about the milk allergy, but thankfully nowadays there are lots of alternatives to cow's milk. Any photos to share from his party?

Ellen, that shirt made me laugh out loud! (I think the baby's expression is part of what's funny about it too!) The other one that always makes me giggle is the onesie that says "I'm a boob man" -- OK, maybe I'm immature, but it cracks me up!

One bootie down, three more to go ...

I''m really anxious to post pictures but have to wait until hubby downloads them for lazy old me.

I have tons of adorable pictures.

Happy birthday baby Chrono!!! Can''t wait to see the pics!!

Diver and Tacori, your wee ones are just precious!

Speaking of, I was leafing through this catalog I get, and one of the baby T-shirts made me think of you and your lil ones. It's in the upper right corner...

Love it.

And yes, I think that babies expression just adds to it!

Happy Bday baby Chrono! They grow up so fast!

I''m sorry to hear about the allergy thing, that''s going to be a PITA watching what he eats.

Lisa, your post brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your kindness.

Ella, thanks. Hope I am not scaring you! Lack of sleep does take its toll! Are you still planning on BFing the twins?

Jas, your friend is 100% correct. It is about survival (MINE!) I seriously don''t care about certain things anymore, like a hot meal, shower, brushing my hair. I just try to sleep and find a little time alone. My DH is very helpful but of course the brunt of it is on me.

Thanks Ellen. She is precious....we like sleeping Tessa the best

Chrono happy birthday to your little one! I can''t wait to see photos.

Okay, monster woke up and is crying. By ladies!

So I want to order a few of Tessa''s first photos the hospital took. Which of these two poses do you like best? DH thinks she looks so different now (3 weeks old). I still think this would be cute for her baby book.

option 1

option 2

Hi Tacori, Tessa is precious! I''d pick option 1 for her first photo. I like her 2 fists clamped instead of fingers sticking out. I love having my own first pic from the hospital in the baby book my mom made for me. Of course babies change how they look everyday! But you have to get one for her. Too cute!

I like the 1st picture too. In the 2nd picture, Tessa looks like she''s frowning. She''s still a very cute baby in both pictures though, so it''s a tough choice.

Tessa Pics...I vote for #1 as well--how cute!!!!!

Ella, just thinking of you last night as I was making dinner--maybe you are already doing this but since you are in the mood for cooking why not make a few freeze-ahead meals that you can thaw and then just pop in the oven during the first few months of momhood. I am sure you will be given tons of food/help in the first few weeks, but when that stops it would be nice to not have make dinner! I am going to try to do this as well.
(have to admit thou, I with you and love xmas baking right now b/c it seems like i am making it for other ppl, but really I am eating half of it
18.gif

Tacori, love both photos!!! It's tough choice and I actually was leaning toward photo #2 at first, but I think I agree with the fists over the open hands -- though she's adorable in both! I'm sure she must look so different now already. Yep, still planning on BFing the twins. I've been reading a book on it, and I know it IS possible ... though it will not be easy, and I'm not fooling myself into thinking it will be. It'll definitely take a lot of work, time, coordination, patience, etc., but hopefully it can be done. My cousin BF her twins for like 18 months (I don't plan on doing it that long!), so hopefully she can give me some pointers too.

Jas, yep, we've got a bit of lasagna (though we already ate a few servings!), two containers of yummy stuffed shells, a few different soups (squash and a beef barley), and my stepmom gave us five containers of brisket -- all in the freezer! A few friends have also offered to make some freezer meals for us, so between what we've got now, what we've got coming, and um, pizza and other takeouts available, we should be for a few weeks hopefully! I know I should make more stuff, but really I prefer baking to cooking, so at this stage I'm more likely to just make some pumpkin breads and throw those in the freezer rather than a casserole (pumpkin bread freezes really well, by the way!). But if you know of any *easy* freezer meals to make, I'd be happy to get the recipe from you!

Skippy, I checked out your nephew's photo -- OMG, what a cutiepie!!! Wow, he's going to be a heartbreaker, eh, with those dark eyes?

Have my weekly appt. and u/s this afternoon -- here's to a plumper Katelyn (and Gabriel too, though I'm less worried about his weight gain since he's bigger)!

Good luck at your appointment ellaila, hoping they are plumping up a lot!!

Tacori, of the two picks I like #1 the best!! Gosh is she such the cutie!!!!!

ditto!!

tacori, i''m so impressed they got tessa awake for the hospital photo. Lily is snoozing away in her''s, although I love it, she''s in a plush white blanket and has the cutest little cream outfit on and the hospital sticks little bows on the heads of the baby girls so it''s still sweet. But, tessa with her eyes open, wow!!! so cool...

Hiya ladies!

Sorry for the MIA. With the accident and all the fun looking for bezel studs, I just lurked for awhile until I could compose a proper post.

Tacori, I love #1 too! She is such a doll. I am hoping you are feeling much better both with breast feeding and your mom gone. Hang in there gally!

Ella, here''s to hoping for more weight gain! Looking forward to hearing the update. Man, you are so close! I keep thinking about your due date. We will be landing in Australia the day you go in, so just think of me on the other side of the pacific sending good vibes your way.

Diver, LOVE the pic of you and your girl!

Chrono, happy birthday to Baby Chrono!

Jas good for you for not finding out the sex! And our pregnancies seem to be mirroring each others very closely. I am totally at the alien stage...it moves here, then there, then way over there, then back here...from the mid belly to low groin and right and left abs. Sometimes when I am sitting back relaxing, I''ll put the fringe from my chenille throw on my belly and watch it move when the baby kicks. Free entertainment, gotta love it! TGuy felt the baby move for the first time on 11/23 (so right after yours did). I''ve been joking that the baby is scared of him because whenever TGuy comes near to touch, the baby just stops moving! It''s nice for him to finally see that I''m not a nut and the thing IS really moving. I''ve felt it move from the outside very lightly from about week 17 or 18, but it''s definitely a lot stronger now.

The second trimester is definitely fun!!

Thanks ladies. I was leaning towards #1 also.

Funny story... (well not funny haha more funny interesting) my good friend''s sister is a due in a few weeks. She really wanted to keep the sex a secret (even though her DH wanted to know) Poor thing has had so many complications (GD, positive for strep B, etc...) She was having contractions last week so they did an U/S (thought the baby was breeched). They stopped her contractions since she was not dialating or anything, anyways at the end of the u/s the nurse said "its still a boy!"

23.gif
I would have been pissed! I can''t imagine going 38 weeks not knowing and then finding out so close to the end! Obviously the nurse didn''t know. Just a reminder to REMIND them you do not want to know!

I am doing fairly good on my own. She has been sleeping better the last few days. I STILL think she has reflux. She spits so much poor thing. I guess I will talk to her doc about it at her next appointment. DH is helpful as well. He''ll take her for a few hours so I can sleep w/o her in the room or I can run errands w/o her. The weight is not coming off as quickly as I hoped
8.gif
I know I am not even 4 weeks out but still....I haven''t been that hungry and with BFing I thought I would progress faster. I need to lose 25 more lbs. Nursing is going better but I am still using the shield. My goal is to get her off of it. Ella, I cannot imagine BFing two babies but many women are sucessful at it. Take FULL advantage of the lactation ladies at the hospital.

Tgal--the alien baby stage is fun for sure. DH and I have a nightly ritual of laying down and waiting just a few minutes for the action to begin--for some reason the little bugger decides to do its aerobic workouts at 11:00pm when i am ready to call it a night--i am sure this is a sign of what's to come in terms of finding opertune times to wake its mother when she is trying to sleep.
Are you looking fully pregnant now? I've noticed a lot of ppl staring at my abdomen lately at the gym--the same women i see 5 days a week have finally clued in and are brave enough to ask cute questions like "is that a baby in there" hehe--i now find that when ppl talk to me they look at my belly first and then my face--it's so weird.
I know i am not very big at all (yet) but i still can't imagine getting much bigger, or how that will look/feel....

........................
Couple of random questions for moms :

Anyone used a co-sleeper? I am leaning toward one for the first few months and wondering if there are any 'cons' i have overlooked

Glider/swing/bouncers...do you use all, some or none of these things? I've heard ppl love their swings--there seem to be so many on the market with so many gadgets--i don't know how I feel about all the sounds/lights/decorations that come with these things--I am more drawn to the simple, plainly coloured stuff--maybe it's just b/c i don't like a lot of 'noise' (visual or otherwise) around me I don't think the baby will either. I feel like I am going to set it up for ADHD down the road or something.

-----
Tacori--forgot to add--i would be SOOO pissed if I were in your friend's position--did she let the nurse know she ruined the surprise? I told DH this story (he is dead-set against finding out the sex) and his eyes popped out--he was mortified. I think it must happen a lot--i am going to make sure I tell my Dr. each time I go in now b/c I am sure it's on my chart and she is flightly sometimes!!

Jas, she did not tell the nurse (didn''t want her to feel bad) before EVERY U/S I always reminded them not to tell me.

Tessa sleeps in a bassinet (part of my pack n'' play, the Combi DX) the last few nights she actually slept in her bouncy chair (so she is more upright) seems to help with her spitting. I really, really do not like typical baby stuff. Both my p''np, bouncy chair (fisher price papasan) and fisher price "nature''s touch" swing are VERY neutral and un baby like. I think ANYTHING that can distract her is worth the money. Even today I noticed her staring at the overhead moving bug thing on her swing. Also swinging is one of the 5 "s"s if you read "happiest baby on the block" reminds them of the womb. The white noise also helps. She was even put in a swing in the hospital nursery. It was so cute!

Just a quick pop-in to say that Tessa is a cutie-pie! what a precious little girl.
Both pics are cute, but #1 is it!
