I had the same exact debate. I''m not so much of a size girl as I am a sparkle girl. We bought a beautiful signature ideal cut .92 from Blue Nile and I spent 3 months going back and forth over whether or not to let it stand alone in a solitaire or set it in a micropave halo. I went from jewlery store to jewlery store trying on settings and in the end I kept coming back to the halo setting. I must have tried on 300 rings! I love a good solitaire but despite what you see on pricescope, in the real world, everyone and their mother has a solitaire. I''ve only seen 2 halo rings in person on real people in my entire life. The halo I picked is a micropave with pretty engraving in the bottom half of the band on the metal. Sort of Tacori like! It has almost an antique look to it and I love that it''s like nothing else I have ever seen. Haven''t seen anything like it here either. I am going with palladium for the ring since I wanted to spend the money on a quality stone rather than metal in a ring that you''re not even going to see (band and halo are 3 sided micro pave). In the end I will always love the elegance of a simple solitaire with a beautiful sparkly diamond but I also figured the diamond won''t always be clean and won''t always have the same bling it has when it''s brand new never been worn, not full of soap, dirt, etc. When my diamond isn''t showing off it''s optimal sparkle, I''ll still smile when I look at it because I love the beauty and unique look of the setting that it''s sitting in.
