Call me crazy, but do any of you halo ladies miss seeing your center diamond by itself for it''s full beauty? I kind of miss seeing my diamond from all angles. Don''t get me wrong I get compliments all the time. People are stunned by the beauty of the ring but I miss my diamond.

I was just wondering if it was just me.

Hi!
I seriously thought about getting my canary taken out of its halo setting and having it set as a solitaire, but in the end I decided to buy it the way it was. It has enough fire that I don''t really miss seeing the sides. (It''s on page 4 of the "show me your rings with halos" thread.) There are designers like Gregg Ruth who do a lot of filigree work, and you can still see all the angles of your main stone.

Thanks for your imput.

I don''t miss it at all, but mine is prong set above the halo and not bezel set. I can''t remember if yours is bezel set or not. I think if it were bezel set that would be a totally different story. I do love some of the bezel set halos, but I am not a bezel girl. I feel it covers up too much of my diamond.

I don''t have a halo, rather I have just a six prong head, but I miss the side view of my diamond with four prongs!! So I can only imagine you missing the view of yours in a halo!

Yes, mine is bezel set.
If I changed it I would not go back to a 6 six prong but rather a 4 prong to show more of my diamond. Then again, I don''t know if I could use to the smaller size.

Trade offs ... trade offs. I love the look of your halo, if you think of it as a "ring" instead of a "stone", I think you''ll be happy with the halo in the long run. Most POW for the $.

Seeing a stone from the side does nothing for me personally.

What does "POW" mean?

POW = whammo, pizzaz, bang, whoopeee

(Sorry, got a little "Batman" on ya ... you know the cartoon words that used to flash on the screen when someone got punched. ZAP! POW! KABLOOM!)

Definitely more POW for the money! I guess I''m just missing the traditional style engagement ring were the diamond sits up and just pops.

Imurden, I have to agree that it may be the bezel that is bothering you. Mine is set in prongs above the halo, and I love it. I have only had it a couple of days, but this was to replace a solitaire. I do not miss it since I opened that box.

I do not foresee a day when I won''t love my ring.

If it''s any consolation, yours is poppin'' like Orville Reddenbacher, baby!

I have mine in a bezel halo, and I just got it a few weeks back, and I love it. I''m a complete klutz and like to wear my ring all the time! I only take it off to clean it and put it right back on! I aslo love the fact that I don''t catch and snag it on everything like my original set! It''s such a safe setting! But, they look freaking gorgeous too!

I''ve been in love with bezels ever since we lived in Italy, and there was a lot of bezel set stuff with colored stones. Since then I''ve had 3 rings and a necklace! But, this is the first ring with the diamond halo, but I can see a fair bit of the side and the bottom of my diamond because I have a split shank.

That was the only "must" when I planned the ring...a diamond halo! I have such long skinny fingers that I needed something "POW" to take up some of that space!

Solitaires just didn''t suit me, or dainty tiny settings!

Go try on some solitaires with the same size center and see if you feel the same way!

Imurden~

I love your ring, it''s gorgeous! It''s only natural for you to miss seeing your stone, but the halo setting really accentuates the stone and has that beautiful modern look... I personally love it!

Since finding PS, I''ve seen a lot of nice rings and yours is definitely one of them. PS has really broaden up my knowledge of the world of BLINGS! Thanks to all! CHEERS!!

Yours was one of the ones that I loved when I was making my "bezel~halo" decision! It''s gorgeous! And Treysar''s as well!

It''s funny, there are so many halos here on PS, and I''m starting to see a few in the stores, but I have yet to see another woman actually wearing one! So, we''re really quite a unique group out in the "wild"!

Okay, LM, you are losing your marbles!!!!

Your ring is freakin'' awesome!!! Since I have seen it in person both BEFORE and AFTER the halo setting, I can honestly say your ring now is a beauty to behold.

I understand what you are saying about not being able to examine it from the side, but if you need to do that, take out one of your stud earrings and examine that.

I know I know I know!

The before and after is amazing but I was just missing the full view of my diamond. I am over it! Anyway, I love having a unique ring.

Once again, thanks girls for all the feed back!

Glad we could all talk some sense into ya!

Have you had your earrings changed to white metal martinis yet?

Not yet. That will be my Christmas gift! We need to have a get together soon before it gets cold.
