this idle time without the diamond in hand is the toughest. you picked a great stone, hopefully you can get it set quickly and it will be on it''s way.

OK guys, I have sent a request for a quote on RichardAlex''s master piece with some revised specs. I dont know if its appropriate to ask anyone to give an indication of price, but after doing some research, I have discovered that PM''s are no more.

Specs are:

18 x 2pt excellent cut rounds for the band
F colour, VS quality
900 platinum
Band width is just 2mm.
Rings size is 5.

The design is as per belle''s post earlier in this thread. Storm, I know you were instrumental in the design process.

Can I please have some thoughts on an what you would expect as a reasonable cost

Many thanks,

Mickey.

with platinum prices constantly changing, it may be futile to guesstimate price but i would say you are looking at the very least it being 2k.

Yea its hard to say... just get multiple quotes and check each ones reputation here....

Ok, thanks guys. The price I have actualy includes some rounds on the area circled. I guess I''m looking for something to make it a little more unique. Am I messing with perfection here? Please let me know what you think. I cant believe that picking the right stone was the easy part. Gee, how naive was I!

Ummm. I don''t usually like how non-designer original jewelers do "accent stones" like that. Sometimes they can look heavy to me & kinda poke out more than in the designer originals. So I''d DEF DEF skip em. Do ya really want the top view of that Asscher to have stuff going on ABOVE the stone & BELOW the stone .. poking out, looking "wrong". NO!

As to price... man, platinum is INSANE! We''ve just finished wedding band shopping and I SO SO SO SO wish we''d just done that last November (or JULY for that matter - when we ordered my e-ring). Platinum was, what $600-$900/oz vs $1300 & UP???

Depending on the size of diamonds, some bands WITH diamonds are cheaper than solid platinum (engraved or carved or decorated) bands ALONE!.

Good luck, let us know what you decide & take lots & lots of pix!!

I think if I was doing it id have the bar thinned, no diamonds to show off more of the pavilion of the asscher.

Wow, I missed this thread. I love that asscher and it is going to make for one fabulous ring. Mmmm.

I say have the jeweler call some asschers in while you wait so that you can kill time AND appreciate yours more when it arrives

i agree with deco on the additional stones. it would be an ixnay on the inlay for me.

Thanks Storm, belle, deco.

I''m struggling with the fact that I have hijacked this design. I need a personal touch, something so I can say I had some involvement in the finished product. But I just dont know what?

Storm''s suggestion of thinning the bar is a good one. The only thing I can think of is a birth stone inside the band, but the band is only 2mm. How small do H&As get? Would these look good in the band, a couple or all? Thoughts, please??

This may be out in left field but if it was me id consider replacing the diamonds in the band with blue sapphire.
