I''m having WF ship a stone to a local appraiser so I can see it in person and decide whether to purchase. Other than confirming the stone matches what the certificate says and actually looking at the stone, what questions should I ask the appraiser or what other information should I walk away with? Any detail you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Does it match the cert?
Is the original cert accurate and credible?
Are the physical measurements reasonably accurate on the original document.
What is the retail value? What is a reasonable Internet transaction value?
Are any characterisitc of the diamond less than optimal or problematic?
How well does the diamond poerform with light?
DOes the appraiser believe there is any issue with the diamond?

Most importantly,,,,, DO you love the way it looks and will it please the person it is goiong to be given to.

Thanks for your response.

One thing of note, the GIA certificate is dated March 2005. Should I be concerned that the certificate is somewhat old (e.g., why has this stone been sitting around for over 1 year or hasn''t GIA changed some of their grading criteria since this stone was graded?)?
