LOL. I said red velvet, because I assume they''re talking about plain cheesecake? I like crazy flavored cheesecakes, like chocolate and PB etc.

Hard for me to choose. I''m a picky dessert eater, so I loooove cake when it''s good, but 90% of the time I think it''s gross. But I do love red velvet!

However, I adore cheesecake. Yet I dislike most other pies, so I wasn''t sure I wanted to vote for team pie.

In the end I had to go with cheesecake. We even had it as our wedding cake (the cake lady was very confused that we didn''t want a tiered cake with decorations - just a couple cheesecakes in different flavors).

I chose cheesecake because between RV and CC, it''s cheesecake hands down. However, between pies and cakes in general, I prefer cakes. I''m very picky though. I only accept cakes with whipped cream. No butter cream, canned whipped cream or fondant. Only freshly beaten whipped cream. If it''s between a crappy cake and crappy pie, then I would choose crappy pie. Argh, hungry...Must eat lunch...

I think their choice of representative desserts is a little off...when I think pie, I usually think of fruit fillings, or maybe custard. Cheesecake is a category unto itself. And while I generally like cake a lot better than pie, I don't like red velvet AT ALL. So I ended up on Team Pie but I feel weird about it, haha!

ETA: I'm now starving, thankyouverymuch, and I have another hour and a half of class to sit through. And all I can think of is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! Life is so rough...

For those wondering how these became each Team''s respective pick: here are the brackets. Frankly, I''m surprised Birthday Cake and Apple Pie weren''t victorious ... but I voted Red Velvet CAKE for the win. We had Red Velvet cupcakes at our wedding nearly four years ago and I''m still a fan. The only pie that could have challenged it in my book is PECAN. (Lemon, Key Lime and Kiwi not withstanding

)

Either people love or hate cheesecake. But not many people hate cake! (Just my experience. People gave me a cheesecake for my birthday. I hate cheesecake so couldn''t eat any of it) But the year before that we had cake, and no one turned it down even though some didn''t like chocolate flavor.

OMGSH. I SAID THE SAME THING OUTLOUD when I saw it, thought about writing it but then was like NAH, no need to waste a post with my rambling!

Although in the end if it was between red velvet and funfetti I''d only go with red velvet if the icing isn''t too cheesy tasting.

Do you really mean cake vs. pie, or red velvet vs. cheesecake? Because my answer will differ greatly depending.

I LOVE cake. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Probably my favorite food in the world. But I do not care for red velvet cake, and would choose almost any dessert over that. My favorite cakes are a white cake with white icing (or funfetti if you make a store bought kind, childish I know, but YUM) or chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Yellow cake is good too.

But if it''s really red velvet vs. cheesecake, definitely cheesecake. I''m a fan of most cheesecakes, but I prefer plain ol NY style.

Though the best. idea. EVAR. was Cheesecake Factory''s Red Velvet Cheesecake. RV cake. Cheesecake. AND Cream Cheese Icing. YUMMMMMMMM.

I am a cake girl. so red velvet it is. I am turned off by all the food colouring, but it is still chocolate cake.
