Originally, we chose the this cake. It’s a little different than the picture though. The pattern on the bottom tier will be on the 1st and 3rd tiers. On the 2nd and 4th tiers will be strings of pearls hanging down the sides about an inch apart from each other all the way around.

Then we decided we liked this one better (got it on one of the recent cake threads). I will post below.

The price difference is only $20 because the lady gave us a huge discount on the original cake which takes a LOT more labor. There’s a lot more detail on that first one, so we’d be getting more for the money. On the other hand, we really like the simplicity of the 2nd cake.

Which one should we go for?

New cake.

Oops I spelled dilemma wrong in the title....I'm in a hurry.

The title of the second picture - "Favorite Cake" - says it all - go for the favorite!

I''d go for the second. I like a simplier look and I think that cake is gorgeous!

Which suites your wedding better? My Fi and I loved the same style of cake, but it was simply not going to work with the rest of the wedding, so we went with a different one we also like. If your venue, dress, etc is fairly ornate, the 2nd one is probably going to be overwhelmed. If everything is more simple and classic the 2nd is great. I wouldn''t base it on the hours of labor, people will notice the cake and you will always have pictures of it, but they won''t know you got a better deal on the 1st and that isn''t what you will see in 20 years when you look at the photos.

My dress is simple, but lacey. Venue is classic country club and will be decorated with candles everywhere. Both cakes have that pearl touch to it which I want.

FI likes the 2nd one better. When I look at the 2nd one, I immediately like it more. Then again, I can''t see the finished product of the 1st until it''s done. I can''t completely picture it, but I think the strings of pearls will look really pretty.

What do you love about each? Could you combine the shapes of the first with the pattern/decoration of the second (or vice versa) to get exactly what you want?

Good point...

Maybe I could add the string pearl look to the 2nd on the 2nd and 4th tiers and keep the rest simple.

That''s so funny, because I had saved a pic of YOUR cake as my inspiration!! I just love the different shaped tiers, but I agree it could be made a little less ornate if you like a simpler look.

Ok...I went with the 2nd one, so no one tell me they like the 1st better!

Krissie, I definitely liked the different shapes of the 1st one! I''m so indecisive...horrible quality!

I think the 2nd is FABULOUSO!!! So sleek and elegant, the other is very very pretty but I like the simpleness of number 2.

I love the second one! Delighted to see that you went with that one!

They''re both lovely, so stop stressin''.

them both they''re just like you said one is more ornate than the other. You made the right decision!

So don''t worry!

I like both of them a lot. I honestly kind of like the first one better being in all for only $20 more? That's not bad at all for the detail included in it. They are both beautiful though and I do love the simplicity of the second one.
(That probably wasn't much help now was it? lol)

lol

I''m going to stick with the 2nd only because I think it''s the more attractive of the two cakes and FI liked it a little more. Both are pretty in different ways. I do wish I were saving more money, but she''d already given me a big discount on that original cake.

Yeah, the second cake will make quite an elegant statement.

I was going to post and say I like the second one better and then I saw you picked it! Perfect choice! I also love the simple elegance of the second - the first is a little busy for me....
