As I mentioned on a previous thread, I''ve had a hard time finding a setting that was just what I wanted. After considering several different settings and worrying about it sitting flush with the wedding band I finally decided to go custom with WF!

I tried on the Cartier 1895 pave several weeks ago and it was so perfect! My boyfriend also loved it so we decided to just have a custom "inspired" ring.

The setting will be approx 0.50ctw aca diamonds and the center stone is 0.903 ACA, G, SI1.

These are the CADS. Please tell me what you think about it. They look good to me but I wanted to run it by the experts before approving them. Is there anything AT ALL that you would change?

Thanks in advance.

Let me try again,

The CADs look great!!! I think that your ring will be lovely! What wedding band will you have to match your e-ring? Or will you go for something unmatching? Please come back with pictures of your ring once you get it!

It''s a beautiful setting but it doesn''t look like a band will sit flush with it. Are you okay with that? Otherwise it''s going to be gorgeous.

Ohh, it''s lovely! It might not sit totally flush with a band because the v of the prongs will be there, but it''ll be close and I just love the design.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the quick responses!

I am a bit upset that you don''t think it will sit flush!! Actually...I was already wondering that myself. I am NOT okay with that!! As I mentioned before, searching for a band that would sit flush was one of the reasons I decided to go custom in the first place!

My SA confirmed in the order and price quote that it would be a ering made to sit flush with the wedding band. (To answer your qustion Luckyeshe, I am into matchy matchy so I wanted the same pave band for the wedding ring) Oh well, I guess it can be changed but I hoped to get it right the first time because I''m on a tight schedule with the ring!

I have another question. The designer wrote this:

"I just wanted to let you know that I left the holes out of your ring design. If you would like to have the holes in the design, I will make sure to cut them before we begin manufacturing your custom ring design."

Can someone tell me what the "holes" are for and if I should have them added back or not?

Thanks again!

Flush-Fit setting from WF

This setting would allow a band to sit flush. The setting is flat.

You need to have a conversation (not email) with WF and make sure you all agree on the design. That''s what the CAD step is for.

Hi Swingirl,

Thanks for posting the setting from WF, but believe me I have looked at them all!

There is something about that one that I just don''t quite like. The Cartier that I tried on in the store definitely allowed for the band to sit flush because I tried the two on together so I''m sure something can be tweaked with this one to make it work.

I understand what you mean about phone calls being much better communication than emails! I have actually spoken to them several times but it is sometimes hard due to the time difference. (I''m in Europe)

Thanks again, I really appreciate everyone''s input on this. Any advice regarding the "holes?"

Lucie,

I'm guessing the 'holes' are the cleaning holes that appear on the underside of the shank where the pave is.

As for it sitting flush, the V on your ring sticks out so the wedding band will sit against that. In order to have it sit 100% flush/flat against a wedding band, you would have to mount the V basket/prongs on TOP of the shank. Look at this pic of Kal-el's custom design; see how the basket is on top...? This allows the part of the ring where the wedding band touches to be flat.

Holes are usually left behind melee so you can clean the stones easier; I guess that''s what they''re talking about. I''m pretty sure some upscale designers don''t always use them- Leon Mege maybe?- so I guess they aren''t mandatory or anything. All my rings have them. I guess I''d probably go for them since most rings with melee have them.

I have to agree with Laila and swingirl...doesnt look like it will sit flush without making the Vs from your head mount on top
of the shank. I have to say that I do like the lines of your design better than the WF flushfit. They are softer the way the
cathedral part comes up to the head. Get the flushfit problem fixed and I think you got a winner!

My cathedral band is very similar to this one (though it does not have the side diamonds) and my w-ring sits flat. You can''t really even see the portion that rings the finger (that the setting sits on top of) so that shouldn''t be a worry. Other than that I think your design is gorgeous!

I like the curved shoulders of your design. But maybe WF could integrate the basket so it doesn''t bulge out.

I think it''s beautiful! I actually like the 3D effect that the slight bulge of the basket provides to the sideview, if you don''t mind that the w-band won''t sit flush.
