Hey all,

With thank to you all I have had a CAD designed for a custom ring for my partner and the diamond has been selected.

I thought I would just run it by you all before giving it the final go ahead. What do you guys and gals think? Is there anything technical that you would change or any comments?

I wanted something that suits my partners thin and delicate fingers. The diamond is being clasped by a rose to highlight her love for nature and I wanted to diamond to sit quite flat on her finger rather than being held up like a traditional solitiare band.

What do you all think? :)

I think it looks great. Very graceful! Will BGD be creating custom wedding band for you?

I'm still relatively new here, and I've been struggling mightily with my own quest for a perfect setting, so you'll want to take my opinion with a grain of salt.

To help any others arriving in this thread, here's a link to your "inspiration" setting:
http://www.heartsonfire.com.au/shop...purelybridalrosesolitaireengagementring.aspx#

I think the designers at BGD did a great job of capturing what your partner liked about the HoF ring, and I think the addition of some curvature in the shank enhances the design further. In my opinion, the only part you might want to think about is whether you like the way they did the tips of "rose petals" that encircle the diamond. In the BGD CAD, these tips appear to be much sharper than in the original inspiration. This gives it a very modern, stylistic feel. Do you prefer that over the original?

Also, where the vertical edge of the metal tip goes down to the shank, in the BGD version, the edge goes pretty much straight down, so that the tip of the "rose petal" has a 90-degree angle to it. In the inspriation ring, it looks like the metal edge of the petal is sloped back a little bit, so that the tip of the petal makes an acute angle (less than 90 degrees). I think the 90-degree angle makes it again more modern and abstract, and it's a personal preference as to whether you like that look over the look of the original.

Just some thoughts, hope they help. =)

I agree with drk. Plus the roval shape of the original isn't coming through for me. Can they tweak that?

thats really pretty OP. I quite like the square edges but then I like very deco things. rounded edges may get you closer to your inspiration photo if thats what you want.

Thanks very much for the advice and feedback!

I know exactly what you mean about it being a little bit more square and I was thinking about the myself if I wanted to get them to curve it off a little bit.

This is the first CAD so changes can definately be made at this point :)

Thanks a lot for providing the inspiration design! That is something I completely forgot to add in my post!

@RockyRaccon - Yeah I know seen that one thanks :) I felt it was just a little too thick for my partners fingers. She is a size 4.5 and has quite thin fingers.

Btw Drk and Gypsy - I would really appreciate if you could help think of the words to describe to BGD exactly how to make the tips of the rose petals and the edge a little more curved, otherwise they are going to get two pictures (on of their design and one of the inspiration with red circles added in paint haha)
