Hey everyone,

I've attached some CAD's I got for my ring and was wondering what y'alls thoughts are.

Here is the backstory:
I am in loveee with the Tacori 2638 setting (http://www.tacori.com/2638rdp65) but was never a big fan of the large 4 prongs, which seems to square off my RB diamond. I've always also been partial to a 6 prong design because it tends to make the diamond look rounder and I prefer that look. However, I don't want to mess with the design of the actual Tacori too much, so I'm currently debating between a double claw 4 prong (to make the prongs overall look a little more delicate) and a 6 prong.

I have a feeling the 6 prong looks a little weird but wanted to hear what you guys think.

Also, any thoughts on the CADs as a whole? Any modifications I should mention?

Thanks so much guys!!! :wavey:

I like the 4 double claw prongs or really I think what I* would like the best is just 4 single claw prongs.

The 6 prong isnt looking right to me where the extra prongs are coming out at N/S. It looks good from the top but I dont like
the side view.

Yeah I agree the side view looks strange. Great idea with the single claw prong! Never crossed my mind...

The design is not suited for a 6 prong setting; it looks better as double prongs. Unless the basket area is redesigned, I would not choose 6 prongs.

Yeah I think I'm going to stick with the 4 prong. I'm actually leaning toward a single claw prong now... what do you think?

Depends on the size of your stone. Do you have the details? If larger than about 1.5 I would say double claw is good. For me, smaller than 1.5, I would go with single. But either way, the claws need to be delicately made, although the single may need to be a little bigger than the double.

I've attached the CADs he sent me initially with single prongs. What do you think?

The finish of the prongs can be very different from CAD images. Do you have example pictures of actual rings by the vendor? I would use that as the basis for comparison.

It's from ERD. I've seen a lot of double claw prongs from them but not many single claw prongs...

The finish of the prongs will depend on which bench they send it to.
Oh I wasn't aware that they deal with multiple benches..? Do you have any recommendations?

You can request them to send it to the bench who does pointy single claw prongs best, if that is a high priority for you. I like the prongs on the zircon ring in the thread I linked to earlier.

Great thanks so much for your help!!! :appl: Do you have any other opinions about the ring overall? Anything I'm missing?

There are several major difference but this could be due to BE lowering the diamond in the setting.

Could you please elaborate?

Sorry, was working on Paint to show the difference. It is up now.

Ooops sorry!! Got a little ahead of myself...

I did ask them to lower it just a smidge but now it looks like it's a little too low. I'll probably ask him to move it just a little higher...
I've attached a CAD straight on. Let me know what your thoughts are! Thanks so much!!!

A lot of what I commented on makes the ring look bulky.

Thanks so much Chrono! I'll mention these changes to Chris and post the updated CADs...

Apparently Chris reassured me that the basket and donut are all going to be milgrain-ed. Not adding the milgrain on the bottom though. And could you elaborate a little more what "pinch" means? Thanks

Pinch = make it narrower/thinner.

Hello everyone, I have a beginner's question: Is it not possible to purchase the Tacori 2638 setting and ask an experienced jewelry to change the prong to claw form while setting the diamond instead of redesigning the whole setting yourself? I guess I am assuming that their cast model setting has left enough metal to do so?!?

ERD/BE did a setting for me based off the 2638 as well. I had double claw prongs on mine coming just off the top (like how the NS prongs are on the 6 prong) and they did a good job of making it look delicate still. Anyways, they also did a zircon ring for me (should be linked in the thread chrono posted) that is single claws and they did that well also.

Yeah pandabee I've been stalking all your threads and I saw your beautiful rings and how great they look. Made me become more confident in choosing BE as well so thank you!!

Aw thank you! I'm not very good about posting pictures here because I don't have good luck uploading them here haha. If you want more pictures I'd be happy to oblige if you want to contact me via one of my LT listings!

Great, thanks so much! I was actually wondering what type of platinum alloy you used? That's the next thing I want to discuss with Chris...
