Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has an experiences or thoughts about buying a stone from Whiteflash and setting it with a setting from James Allen? Do you think its a smart thing to do? I have fallen in love wiht the JA setting, but I notice that Whiteflash has more stone selections. I am sooo confused. I know that WF has the micropave legato that is similar to the JA setting that I like but I want it in 18K WG so that makes the setting near 1000. And out total budget it about 3700 US. The JA setting is 675 and I kind of perfer it.

So what would you guys do?

You can just buy the stone from WF and likely have JA set it. I know you can do it the other way around, so I don''t see why JA
wouldn''t set your stone for you.

Option 1
Buy the JA setting and have it sent to WF to mount. Best to confirm with WF if they will accept it and with JA to make sure that any setting warranty will be upheld and still valid.

Option 2
Buy a separate insurance on just the stone (to cover any setting boo boos), get the WF stone, send it to JA for mounting in the JA setting.

it happens allllll the time, it''s no big deal. usually if you buy them separately, you will be charged a setting fee but that is a small inconvenience for getting the setting that you really want.

Well, I have read several post on here where people have said that WF will set a diamond for you if you buy the mounting elsewhere and send it in. Also, right now I am having my stone set by JA and a mounting I am purchasing elsewhere-and they are extremelly helpful with it as well. I don''t know about WF, but I know JA has been great about it, so I imagine that WF is probably similar--though there could be a small fee you would have to ask to be sure. It will certainly be at their own risk too if you are buying the stone from them.

i would do it the other way around. have the diamond set by whom it is purchased from, that way it is covered if anything happens during setting.
