Buying online - Shipping to Australia

You'll find most vendors ship to Australia, so it's better to choose one based on other factors. Whiteflash, GOG, Nice Ice, Duttons, JA...

You're typically looking at USD100 shipping and payment by telegraphic transfer (fast) or bank draft (cheap). Credit cards are not accepted, but wire-discounts make them an unattractive choice, even in the states.

It's fine as long as you pick a company with a nice return period. More days doesn't mean nicer either. For example, Whiteflash give 10 days to inspect, measured from when you receive it to when you post it back. That is good.

Blue Nile is 30 days, but measured from the date they shipped it. I'm not sure if they have to receive it within 30 days or you just have to post it within 30 days, but you can see it's not as 'nice'. Holdups in customs?

You might also consider using an appraiser in the US to check it out for you to save on two-way shipping in case it's a dud.

I, too, second the recommendation for Garry. This way you also don''t have to worry about all the crazy import taxes.
