Ladies! I''m so excited and I had to stop here before heading over to the bank. BF and I are going to wire the money for my ring this afternoon!

I can''t wait to give you all the details, but I want to make sure it''s all finalized first.

Okay, didn't mean to tease you all, but I wanted to wire the money before posting details. I didn't want to jinx anything! Of course I have details now!

Here is my diamond:

We are having it set in this setting:

For picture examples, Setell's ring was my total inspiration. Her cushion has pretty much the exact specs of mine, and I fell in love as soon as I saw it. I knew that this was THE ring. Here it is, by the way:

It was a little cheaper for the setting at ID Jewelry (we got white gold), and GOG was nice enough to price match. We wanted to keep it all in one place if possible. Although I made all the final decisions about the diamond and setting, BF handled all the communication with GOG. So while I had no direct contact, I know that he worked with Sarah. And from what I understand, she was very nice, helpful, and quick to respond to messages!

I am so excited to receive my little AVC! GOG told BF that they are not cutting any AVC's under 1 carat anytime soon, and since this pretty much matched what we were looking for, we didn't want to miss the opportunity. I know that I got exactly what I wanted, and I've been completely set on it (no second thoughts) since choosing this! It still hurt a bit to wire transfer all that money. My ring was not at all expensive compared to most of the ladies at PS, but it was a lot of money for us.

Can't wait to see my ring! I'm already in love with it! I'm so happy I found PS before making a major purchase like this.

It is going to be beautiful! A very nice and dainty setting for an absolutely beautiful stone.

Believe me, my ring would have been even less expensive than yours and I absolutely love it and have no intention of every changing it bar any accidents! Price - or size - has nothing to do with whether you love your ring or not and I think in any case you are going to LOVE this ring. PS is not a good gauge for what is most people's engagement-ring experience! Your stone is already bigger than most I see where I live!

I agree on PS not being a good gauge! Even though we spent less than $3k on the entire ring (diamond + setting) it was still a lot more than we originally had planned to spend. But I keep seeing everyone''s budgets on RockyTalky and stuff, and they''re all huge!

We got to increase our budget quite a bit because his dad and my mom both contributed money as "graduation presents" so that we could buy a ring! He got his doctorate and I got my masters this weekend.

As evidence for how much PS has influenced me, I''ve been thinking about upgrades before I even get the ring!

I mean, don''t misunderstand, I am planning to fully enjoy this ring. And I''m sure I''ll always love it, even if I never upgrade it. But ideally, maybe 5 years down the road, I''d love to upgrade to a diamond in the 1-1.2 carat range!

And GOG''s upgrade policy is going to make it much easier for us to do that if we decide to in a few years.

but yes you are right PS is totally unrealistic (but fun to look at!) that''s why I like the <1 carat thread...more realistic.

0.70 carats is a really nice size, I think it will look great, especially with that delicate band! congratulations again!!!!

How exciting! Your rock looks beautiful and I think the setting will just make it pop.

I also recently purchased a 3/4ct AVC from GOG and they were fabulous. Their turn-around time for production and shipping of the ring was quite quick (ring complete and shipped within 4 buisness days of the completed wire transfer). If your setting isn''t in-house it might take longer though.

I can''t wait to see pictures of your ring on your hand.

Thanks, Hope! I know you got a similarly sized AVC, and I was so excited to see it on your hand (and still am)! I was hoping you''d have it by this time (I''m sure you were too!). We''ll just wait for our gorgeous little AVC''s together. It kind of scared me that they aren''t planning on cutting any < 1 ct. AVC''s anytime soon, because I had my heart set on one, but we really can''t afford a larger rock right now.

I''m not sure if the setting is in-house or not, but I think Sarah told BF that it would be about 2 weeks. So it may not be, or they may be very busy right now. I''m not too worried about it. It''s funny, because I really had total control through the whole ring buying process. But now that''s done, I''ll just have to wait and see what BF has planned. It''s kind of exciting!

Well I was going to wait for PS 2.0 to update, but I''m not sure when that''s going to happen! Still waiting on the ring, and I feel like it''s been forever! Only 10 days though, somehow!

BF has pretty much made clear to me that he''s not going to make me wait too long after he has the ring. It''s funny, because a few days ago, he was trying to bounce proposal ideas off me. Like a lot of other ladies, we live together, and we''ve been sharing our lives together for a while now. So I think he''s a little lost not having my normal input on a large event.

I told him that I want him to have control to do whatever he wants to do, and I''m sure it will be great. I did think of something that I think would be really romantic - asking during the fireworks on the 4th of July. But I didn''t mention it to him, because I think he probably has something planned already. And I don''t want him to feel like he has to change it or that it won''t be what I want.

I think there''s a small chance that he could wait until our 3 year anniversary in July, but I kind of think it will happen before that. He asked what I wanted for our anniversary, and then he kind of joked that maybe he should just give me the ring. But I don''t think he would have joked about it if that''s what he was actually planning.

Can''t wait to see my ring!
 
YEAH!!! I can't wait to see your ring too. I saw my ring last week and we had to send it off because it was missing a diamond. After seeing the ring, I don't wanna wait that long to wear it. It's not all about the ring, I want to be engaged sooner too.

July 24. Hopefully we''ll be engaged by our anniversaries! If our bfs propose to us on our anniversaries, I just have to wait 10 more days after you''re engaged!

At our 5-year anniversary last year, I had a meltdown followed by an argument with my bf. He wasn''t ready to be engaged yet at that time. I would be very upset if he doesn''t propose by July 24!!! 6 years is a long time!!!!

I know pave ring will have this problem over time. I didn''t expect it to be THIS soon. (before I get a chance to wear it at all!!!) The guy said maybe the stone came out when the goldsmith was setting the diamond.

So, your bf already has the ring for 10 days? or.. are you still waiting for the ring to arrive?
 
Oh we just ordered it from GOG 10 days ago, so he doesn''t even have it yet. AFAIK at least, but I don''t think it''s here. Since we just finished grad school and are looking for jobs, I''m not really out of the house and I haven''t seen a Fedex guy anywhere! That''s possible that the stone fell out when your ring was being set...I''m also getting a pave band, and I really hope it fits, because I was told that the diamonds can fall out if they have to resize it. I know they can put them back in, but still, annoying!

Hah, we always have some anniversary problem ourselves! He FORGOT it completely the first year, last year we were both totally broke, so he gave me kind of an IOU celebration coupon for when we had a little more money (and promptly forgot that too, so we never ended up doing anything for it!).

Hopefully your ring will be fixed soon and he''ll surprise you by proposing early!

. Before I was worried about my ring size too, but it fits pefectly at 4.25.

My bf just told me the ring is ready for pick up. I''m nervous. He''s gonna pick it up tomorrow. I told them to lower the setting a little so that i''ll see less metal on the claws with diamonds. Hope it will be good.

I have NO idea how he''ll propose. I told him I want it to be a "surprise" and a romantic proposal (like he has to get on one knee) since I''ll have to remember that day forever. It would be sooooo romantic if he can propose at the place he asked me to be his gf. It was in a Rose garden in an university.

I''m so excited.. but I''m kinda enjoying my time as a LIW!!!
 
Rose garden would be so perfect! I really want to get married in a rose garden, but we''ll see how it works out!

I''m enjoying being a LIW too, but I have to admit...about 5 of my facebook friends have gotten engaged in the last couple of weeks (and a couple more have gotten married). And I''m ready for mine too, hehe!
 
Most of my friends are single. Some of my friends are in a relationship are not QUITE ready for marriage yet. Some might be engaged within these 2 years. Maybe we''ll be the first couple to get engaged. I''m excited to be wearing a ring on my finger showing people I''m engaged.

I can''t really tell my friends this because I want it to be a surprise for everyone! One of my friend might not be happy if I''m engaged before her. She always think me and my bf aren''t good together. When I argued with my bf a year ago about marriage, she always rubs it in my face about her 2-year plan with her bf. She "kinda" said I''m desperate ''cuz my bf took me to try out rings with him.

Another update: SO emailed GOG to check on the progress of the ring. They said that it was being set next Tuesday and should be mailed out that day, so we should get it Wednesday. Although we''re going to be out of town until Wednesday night, so I''m not sure how that''s going to work yet.

Oh well! I thought it might be cool if he proposed on our trip (it''s nothing fancy, we''re just going to visit his dad in Texas). A small part of me was thinking he said it''d be done next week to throw me off, but probably not. At least the next few days should go pretty fast.
 
Another update! The ring will be here tomorrow morning! It''s actually been ready since Saturday, but we''ve been out of town for a few days, so GOG shipped it out today. Unfortunately, BF has informed me that I can''t see it until he proposes. So that''s going to drive me nuts, but at least he''s assured me that it will be soon.

It''s not even here yet, and it''s driving me crazy that I can''t see it! But I''m excited.
