Hey everyone,

Last week I posted about trying to determine which diamond to buy from Whiteflash, but none of them really suited my criteria, so we didn''t buy any of them. SO.. after a long weekend of finalizing what we were going to do (revising the budget/criteria) he wanted a big diamond, I was concerned about color and cost, we decided to start all over from scratch.

So I have a few problems now:

A) Previosuly I had mentioned that my boyfriend had emailed Whiteflash, and he communication wasn''t great, however John from Whiteflash wrote to me via email and was very helpful, so we are going to go with their company. The problem is my boyfriend knows NOTHING and is very self conscious about the phone thing, but he wrote an email, left his number and is hoping they will call and that he won''t sound too DIAMOND-STUPID. I''m pretty clusless about this too. Problem is, what do we do? There are a couple of diamonds on their website that fit our general criteria

7mm diameter diamond (About a 1.3 Carat)
I of H color (if it''s an I color I would prefer some medium flourescence)
VS2-SI clarity
Ideal Cut (although I''m not quite sure what they mean by that)

I like the H&A BUT I don''t want to pay for the A Cut Above

However, since there are only sample images and no sarin or ideal scope, he requested this info for 1 diamond from them. Whiteflash gives numbers with the diamonds, but no angles etc, which I put into the cut advisor to check. So do we request info on all the diamonds we are intrested in? Or just tell them what we want and they find it for us? I personally would have wanted the perfect diamond to be on their "Expert selection"section, and be done with it!! My boyfriend is really getting antsy about the process and as he says he wants to buy NOW. HE IS REALLY IMPATIENT. And I''ve looked at so many diamonds without a clue about what I am doing, so I''m getting really discouraged. Any input would be REALLY helpful.

B) Don''t even get me started about the setting

Thanks everyone!

If u r going with whiteflash you can tell them exactly your parameters and they will seek out a stone for you within those parameters. If they find something that sounds good ask them to get all the info they can for you like the cert and sarin ect and check it out.
After that if you still like it they can bring it into their location so they can check it out and do extra fancy stuff. They will charge you 40 bucks for the shipping if you end up not buying the stone.

Um yes that''s what they offered me.

Why not these? They are ES stones with great IS images.

1.27 H, SI1 - this has med blue fluor and gorgeous images. I know the inclusions look scary at 40x mag, but as long as it's eyeclean, no worries. Have John ask Brian if this stone is eyeclean. If so, it's my top pick.

1.22 I, SI1 - this doesn't have med fluor, but the cut is sweet, so I'm sure will face up white. Looks eyeclean from the pictures with NO problem, and it's 6.92mm.....close enough to the 7mm that you'll never discern the difference.

Aljdewey: I''ve been debating the first stone for a while. I love the ideal scope, love the flourescence, but the inclusions scare me and Stmdr (I believe) voiced concerns about the very thin girdle which might have durability issues. I think my boyfriend will have to talk to Brian about it. It looks like I''m going to ask them to find me a stone. Thanks for the response!

Allycat..

Well...since John''s given you his 2 cents, this may not be helpful additional feedback....

considering that lots of preferences get mushed together when shopping, and sometimes you go for most and drop out one or another, just thought I''d share that this one seems to get you a lot of what you want, including nice dimensions (in fact, a perfect 4 excellents on the HCA), no problems with girdle width, and a relative sweet spot in price, making the ACA premium less of a cost issue, and although you''re not getting your mb flor...se la vi?

Anyway, maybe this decision has already progressed further. Just a thought; let us know how it''s going.

Hey Everyone,

Well John was great! Put my diamond-impaired boyfriend at ease, and I have to admit, made him really comfortable with the whole thing. I looked at the second stone too (Thanks Regular Guy!) My boyfriend prefers the H, and John assured him that it is eyeclean (can only see the inclusions at 20X magnification). As for the girdle, on the description it says very thin, but the sarin says thin, so I''m going to assume it''s a mistake. I think he''s going to buy it! So I''m really excited.

ally....!!! everything is going your way these days
