Buying diamonds online?

I noticed that the prices were significantly cheaper online. Even when compared to my personal jeweler''s prices. Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of buying diamonds online? Has anyone had any experience with any of them? What is the average price difference between the internet prices vs a local store?

Many of us who hang out on this forum were once in your shoes. We looked at local jewelers, found PriceScope, ended up learning a LOT about diamond quality, and decided to buy a superior diamond online for a better price than we could locally. All the PS vendors are great, but I have personally bought from Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash with total satisfaction. You can find many references from consumers on this forum.
