If I were to buy a diamond from one place and a setting from another place, how do I go about getting it set. Do I just bring the two to a jeweler? how can I trust them? Has anyone gone down this route?

it depends. If it''s a designer setting, i''d have the vendor you are purchasing the setting from send the stone to the designer to set. If not, have the vendor you are purchasing the setting from send it to the vendor you purchase the stone from. I''d rather have the vendor whom I purchased the diamond from be the one to set it. many pricescope vendors have worked together from time to time to do just what you are asking...

Ditto, but I''d select the stone and try to find a setting from that vendor if at all possible. Or if there is a particular setting, see if any of the online vendors carry that brand and look at their diamonds.

true, if you can get them both at the same place, that''s usually easiest, plus you can noramally get a bit better pricing when buying a completed ring package...

I feel in love with the Hearts on Fire setting and I have not seen one like it. I saw "The allegro" on Whiteflash which was similar, but not the same so I don''t know. I am having a jeweler get the HOF setting so I can look at it in person. The diamond I am leaning towards getting "A cut above" from WF. What should I do?

does HOF need your diamond to make the setting? If it were me, I''d want HOF to set the stone, just make sure you get your stone insured while it''s being set. HOF may take responsibility for it for a small fee, if not, Jewelers mutual does offer insurance for stones while being set you just have to keep a policy with them for a certain period of time.

I''ve also learned from experience that just because a vendor has their own line of settings and doesn''t show designer settings on their website, it doesn''t necessarily mean they can''t order it for you. It''s worth asking.

Good point. Sometimes it is the most obvious answers that we do not see. I am in contact with Whiteflash to see if that is possible. What does everyone think of those two settings? any suggestions?
