Buying blind, is this OK ?

Hi,

Just wondering, how safe would it be to buy a diamond with the following measurements simply based on the numbers, and how bad could the aset or idealscope images be (i know H & A can be waaaay off) ? I'm asking cos I'm looking to purchase another stone and might want to try ordering from overseas this time. The vendor however does not provide IS or ASETs, and being located overseas, with shipping and all, it might exceed the 30 days.

Does anything look wrong with this stone ? The only thing I have noted so far is that the measurements seem rather wide, 5.67 to 5.71, should i be alarmed and does this indicate anything ?

Also, one of the local jewelers i met mentioned that while GIA grades color, some aspect might not be included in the grade (i forgot what exactly he said but he mentioned something like it might still have a yellow or brown tint/hue ?), is this true ?

Its an IF as well, same as my other stone, so no inclusions

Diamonds can have a gray, yellow, or brown tint or undertone, even diamonds in the colorless range. GIA will sometimes note this on the lab report, but I've only seen it on K and lower stones, and, even then, only rarely. I once owned a G color diamond that, to my eyes, had a gray undertone. That said, if the diamond you are considering is graded H color (or above) by GIA, you should be safe. One local jeweler I know also uses the color tint or undertone argument to discourage people from buying diamonds online. So take comments like that with a grain of salt.

These numbers look great -- what is the size of the girdle, and what color is the stone? Also, is this an AGS graded diamond or a GIA graded diamond? And is the price good? It should be, if you're not getting any "extras" like photos or ASET.

Hi

I think you should buy from the store who has the reputation and is in the business from atleast 4-5 years.
You have mentioned Vendor is based overseas and does not provide you the IS/ASET shipping etc could exceed
30 days, I would be nervous buying unless I know the people whom I am buying from.

Stones have the shades like Brown tint or yellow tint which GIA do not really grade. This can only be checked
by the Diamond specialist - Gemologist.

I would suggest to choose the Stores like James Allen, B2C Jewels, Blue nile they have the reputation and are
in the business online from long time.
