First time on the sight and there is so much info... I am your typical boyfriend in the long term relationship who knows what I have to do but have been procrastinating.

So I have done some research and know what I like...

I even know when I have set as my goal to proudly take the plunge to my beautiful other half.

My question is should I buy know with Christmas rapidly approaching or wait til after New Years for the best pricing. Curious if the holiday season inflates the price of what I am planning to get

welcome to ps and congratulations on your upcoming proposal.

pricing will not matter over the holidays as much as selection will. this is a very busy time of the year and if you have something specific in mind, you are going to have to move fast.

best of luck to you!

I have heard (here and else where) that it does but I just bought mine 1 week ago after months of research and looking and I didn't notice any increase in price. For that matter you would think with all the holiday sales you might be able to get a better deal but what do I know - I'm in the same boat as you!
What made me pull the trigger was my GF LOOOOOOOVES Xmas and being able to "pop the question" at this time of the year was worth any price premium - all though I didn't notice any...

I think most importantly if you educate yourself (this site is great! The peep's here have been soooooo much help for me!), know what you want and set a budget, and then you really can't go wrong. Do some search's on the types of stones/rings you want (cut, clarity, CT, and color wise) then take an afternoon to go out to a few shop's. Ask them specifically for what your looking for (i.e. 1CT, H color, VS2, round stones in what ever setting you like) and compare the prices you get from the stores to what you see online.

The people here can help you narrow down your search and chose between stones but you will need to educate yourself on the 4 c's if you haven't already.

Good luck!
