Buying a GIA stone from Amazon at a great price - what''s the catch?

Working with the parameter of a round stone, white gold setting (hers) and a $1500 budget (mine), I''ve found what I think to be a great deal on an engagement ring from Amazon. Luckily, she has 4.5 size finger!

Stone:
.66 Carat, Excellent Cut, I Color, SI2, GIA certified, $750.

Setting:
Because I know we both want some blue in there, two sapphire side stone setting, $450

The ring is being delivered in three days, and Amazon has a 30 day return policy, so I have some time to decide.

Now, my question is, why is the price on the stone so good? All the comparable stones I could find are at least a few hundred bucks more. And to be honest, if I can save a little bit more for a house down payment down the road sometime, I think we would both be happy about it. Thoughts?

Not enough information on the cut, the report is not posted. Price is probably that good because it is not eye-clean, have you check it out with Amazon?

It says no longer available? Could be various reasons for the price, including maybe a pricing error looking at the prices of similar online diamonds, $750 is very cheap, comparable diamonds are around $350 - $400 more.

I haven''t contacted Amazon yet, I will do so today. I figured the stone, being SI2, might have some imperfections. But I have looked at several SI2 stones in stores, and while I might be able to see something while squinting, I didn''t think it had an effect on the beauty. In any event, I will try to contact Amazon today to see if I can see the certificate. I also intend to take advantage of their return policy, if in any way my fiancé to be is unsatisfied.

SI are not all the same, some will have visible inclusions, some not. So best to check it out. Post the GIA report number once you get it.

LOL! Well if this works out it is an excellent deal if well cut and eyeclean, post the report # or a scan of the report if you can so we can get all the measurements and we can then see how well it is cut.

Now perhaps there are inclusions, but looking at the diamond in the setting, I can''t see any, and I have 20/20 vision. Overall, the diamond SPARKLES, in high light, low light, doesn''t matter. The setting looks great too, and the sapphires are very deep blue as I was hoping. They wouldn''t provide any stats on the sapphires, so I''m thinking they are lab created, but I don''t care because they look fabulous.

I''m sure she is going to love it! Going to ask next weekend! Very pleased that Amazon could provide this ring at such a great price!
