Should I consider buying this diamond?

Long story short - It''s a .71 oval. The store didn''t have the certification certificate, but will have it by the next time I stop in (which I find weird) They though it was a color G sI1. They looked in their computer and it said it was a D in color. The salesman said it wasn''t close to a D and maybe a F to G in color. He told me the European Gemological Laboratories grade a lot better than they should be. It''s priced around $1700. I know I probably shouldn''t consider it if they don''t even know what it is. But I just want to get any opinions and comment on this.

Thanks

Confused.

If you went to the store and they thought it was a G SI1 but the compy said D.. where is that D coming from? EGL is known to be lenient, but I''d say this large a discrepancy is unreasonable and unlikely. If they have access to a grading authority (EGL) that has issued a certificate available online but not on paper why can''t they just print it out for you til the paper copy comes in?

The salesman estimated it at a F-G SI1. Then someone else looked in the computer and said it was a D. I don''t know where they looked. The salesman then said it couldn''t be a D and had to be around F-G. I just don''t understand how grading can be that far off. But of course, he told me I was still getting a great deal at F-G color.

Sorry, but with all that confusion I would take my money elsewhere.
