HI there,

I was wondering if anyone has bought a complete ring from Maytal, including the diamond? how was the diamond purchasing experience? price? quality? I''ve heard wonderful reviews about her beautiful craftsmanship but haven''t heard anything about buying a diamond from her. I''m asking because i much prefer to work with just one person as opposed to 1 for diamond and another for setting. However, I also want a beautiful diamond at an awesome price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, i''m looking for a radiant if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Maytal might be able to source a stone for you but that isn't her specialty. I would much rather buy a stone from a vendor that sells and inspects stones and have the custom design work done by an expert in jewelry making. Some vendors have a staff that does both.

It is very common to buy the stone one place and ship it to the designer for the setting. Some folks send the stone to an appraiser and the appraiser sends it to the designer.

thanks for your help! i''ve never purchased diamonds before so that process just makes me a bit nervous. i didn''t even realize i need to send my diamond to an appraiser after it''s been purchased

Boyfriend and I have zero knowledge on diamonds and since he''ll be taking over after I gather up the info of where to go for diamond and setting, i''d like to keep it as simple/straight forward as possible

Most non-pricescoper couples just go to the mall and pick a ring! i''m newly exposed to pricescope so while i definitely want to go about this the right way, the entire process of picking diamond, picking setting is slightly daunting.

i will most likely be going to Maytal for the setting, any tips on what I should do if I go to her for the diamond too?

Sending your stone to an appraiser really isn't necessary if you purchase it from a trusted and respected vendor. It also depends on the value of the stone. If I was spending a huge amount I might take that step and some people prefer that measure of safety. You also can wait until it's set and then get it appraised. However, I did neither. I purchased my stone from Whiteflash and after looking at it, sent it to a designer to be set.

Good Old Gold
High Performance Diamonds
James Allen
Engagement Rings Direct

These are some of the trusted diamond vendors although I am not sure who might have radiants.

I have been working with ERD too and Mark has been helpful. I''ve heard he has a great eye, which will be important since I probably can''t check out the diamond before purchase. I think I''ll just give boyfriend both''s info and he will decide

Considering your lack of experience and her focus on settings I wouldn''t do it. Another well known designer Leon Mege started offering diamonds I am not impressed by his knowledge or offerings

I bought my stones from Whiteflash and James Allen--no appraisal....wasnt necessary in my opinion

I bought from ERD and GOG - had appraisals done by both although not necessary. It''s always nice to have another opinion.

I worked with Maytal on my setting. Lovely lady.

Wow, very interesting on LM and diamonds. I know he''s one of the top designers recommend on PS. Thank you so much for the advice, you are all so helpful
