I sold something to a buyer on Loupetrrop and shipped it February 27th. It arrived at JFK on March 1st, but no movement on tracking ever since and buyer has not received it yet! I am SOOOO worried!

This is something being shipped from Canada to US
Any advice?

When I shipped something between US > Canada, the tracking switched from USPS to FedEx when the item crossed the border. Check your detailed receipt, it may have a separate FedEx tracking number.

My item also got stuck in customs. FedEx was pretty lazy about doing anything to keep it moving. In the end, the buyer and I both called FedEx to see what's up. They ended up emailing me a customs clearance form, which I filled out, signed, and had to fax to the appropriate customs location. The faxing didn't work, so my (very nice and patient) buyer ended up printing a scanned copy of the customs form and driving to the airport clearance location to pick up her item. It was a hassle. I think she may have also had to pay some taxes on it.

USPS (usually) does not update tracking on international shipments once it hits the US

It's such a pain and totally aggravating!

Hopefully it shows up at their doorstep soon!

What shipping method did you use? Express Post?

Call Canada post immediately and open a claim with them. They are very nice and will open a claim and try to find your package. I did that but then luckily it arrived within a couple days. Ask your buyer to please be patient until you have a resolution to the issue through the postal service (i.e., confirmation it is lost). If it is lost, then refund the buyer's money and make your claim through Canada Post for the insured value.

Do you think it may be delayed in customs? My cousin sent a package from Toronto recently and it was stuck in customs for a whole week! Hopefully your package will get to your recipient soon!

I know when I ship to Canada via USPS, it's takes up to 3 weeks. I've even had it take four and I can't track past the border.

It may very well be that it's taking the slow boat thru customs. I really wouldn't worry until the six week mark (or just before 45 days, which is the deadline to file a dispute if they paid via PayPal).

Did you insure it? If you did, I believe most carriers require about six weeks before they'll pay out a claim.

I wouldn't completely freak out yet, though I know that's easier said than done.

Thanks everyone. I am not yet freaking out, just annoyed. The buyer is very calm about it... it was I who initiated the 'worry' anyway. Gonna keep on waiting!
