Hey everyone,

So, I''ve got the luxery of time on my side....in that I don''t plan to propose until the end of the summer (I''m planning a little getaway), but if I wanted to, I could purchase my diamond/ring now.

My question to all of you is this:

Should I purchase my diamond soon, or should I wait. Are diamond prices likely to increase or decrease over the next few months? When time is not an issue, how do you decide when to pull the trigger? What are the advantages/disadvantages of buying now or later?

Thanks for all your help!

It depends on what you are looking for - some stones can take a little while and some patience to find, depending on what you want. What exactly are you hoping to get? Can you give us some idea and your budget if that is ok please? Then we might be able to help!

If you are hoping to propose at the end of the summer, I don't think it is too early personally to start looking!

Prices will continue to go up. I''d buy now.

My budget is $5000 - $6000 for the diamond, and I''m hoping to do the whole ring for somewhere around $7000.

I''m looking to get an AGS0 H&A RB....Color: F - H, Clarity VS2 - SI1 (eye clean only), HCA score below 2.0, and as large as I can get with my budget. The setting/ring will be a 14K gold Tiffany inspired three stone setting, with two .30ct pear shaped tsavorites on the side.

I''ve been in contact with WF already about sourcing the tsavorites and designing the ring (they quoted me approx $1300 for the 14K setting and tsavs), and I''ve been looking at their available diamonds. So I was wondering if I should jump on the best diamond they have available right now, or should I wait?

Your idea sounds lovely! If you see a diamond you like, then personally I don''t see you would gain anything by waiting, especially with the current pricing trend.
