I don't know where you live, but I'm in the DC area and we just got a setting for my mom (had our own stone) from a place called Charleston Alexander. Their regular prices are extremely inflated and they specialize in EGL-certed diamonds (which people on these boards will tell you to run from), BUT they have these huge sales on their settings every so often. My mom also wanted a halo on a budget, and we got her a $2700 white gold setting (honestly no idea whether it was 14k or 18k gold) with a halo and pave on the sides for 40% off, for a total of $1620 for the setting (and then it was $150 to set the stone and $50 to ship out of state).

They had their "biggest sale of the year" in May, July, August, and September. I'm not sure what they are currently offering, but if there isn't a sale exactly right now there probably will be again soon. Could be worth calling if you're out of the area or stopping by if you're close.

I'm having trouble uploading pictures but will add another post and see if I can do it in there.

just as an illustrative example...

good luck!

In my experience, eternitydiamonds.com, whiteflash.com, and jamesallen.com have some of the lowest prices.

I just ordered a custom halo setting from eternitydiamonds.com for about $1500. I'm not going to get it for 2-3 weeks, but I'll post pics when I do.
