Started shopping a few weeks ago and was very happy to find a site like PS :)

I'm looking for 1.5 to 1.8c RB, budget including band is 15-18k. As for size vs quality, I would take a stone that really sparkles over a larger diamond if given the choice. What do you guys think of this:

Planning on popping the question in late August. Please let me know if you'd like more info..

Thanks :)

Hello there,

I don''t think you can go wrong with this stone as it is AGS 0 with all the right proportions. I would only question whether you need the VS1 clarity? In that size you could definitely go down to VS2 or even SI1 in some cases with an eye-clean stone.

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-922673.htm this looks eye-clean from the image, give WF a call, this could save you some serious $$$$

I got my FI a 1.5 carat Ideal Cut I-SI and am so happy I did.

I just found this AGS ideal at good old gold. I''d agree with the previous post the clarity could be be VS2 or SI1.

Welcome!

The diamond looks great, should be an excellent performer.

I initially bought a H color stone and compared it with my sister in law's F color....I immediately return the ring and went up in color, but went down on clarity. That being said, I¡¯ll go for a VS2 or even SI1 clarity and go up on color to a F-G.

Looks like a nice stone! I wish I could see it in relation to her hand but she''s mentioned that she''d like the whole thing to be a surprise though so shopping for it together isn''t an option. She is petite - 5''5" and about 115-120 pounds (thin fingers). I don''t want to get her something gaudy - thoughts on how a ~1.65c would look on her hand? Too big/flashy?

Also, smithy617 brings up a good point - are we going to be able to tell a big difference btwn I/H/G? I dont think I need to go above G.

Right now I''m thinking:

~1.6c RB
H-G color
SI1-VS2

1.6 to 1.8 ct is my dream size, I''m sure most women would not consider that too gaudy.

As for color it is a personal preference. You may benefit from going to a B&M stone that carries AGS or GIA certed stones, and look at different color ideal and excellent cuts next to one another. Those labs grade color very hard, and so an AGS "J" will be much whiter than even an "H" from some other softer labs. So go and see some samples to determien your color tolerance.

For me, I have an AGS ideal J and love it, and I never see and hint of color in it.

Well I haven't made a purchase yet and have about two weeks until I am thinking I'll pop the question (is that enough time to get a stone set and sent to me?)

Currently looking at these stones:

WF 1.733
GOG 1.64

Is the GOG one's dimensions ok? Specifically,

Table Percentage: 54.50%
Depth Percentage: 62.20%

Here are the settings I'm considering:
MM @ GOG
WF W
WF Tiffany Knife Edge

Thoughts on the stones and/or settings? Comparable stone suggestions? Thanks everyone for your input so far! :)

JoeNewbie11 I''m glad you liked this stone (http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-922673.htm)

I bought it yesterday

Those last two stones look great!

Call and see if this stone is eye clean, it could save you a ton

Congrats First123 on the purchase! Show us some pics once you get it

Also saw this diamond on Blue Nile:

BN 1.65c

Seems like a pretty good price, I wish they had pics of their diamonds though!

2 weeks is a tight deadline, but you''d have to check with the vendor to find out what''s possible. You can''t go wrong with any of the setting you are choosing from. I''m a little biased to MM...

Of the two options you have listed, I personally prefer the WF stone to the GOG stone (if eye clean, which it looks like it would be) - only because I''d rather have the larger stone with a slightly lower clarity rating. It''s personal preference though.
