Mostly for Daisys and Diamonds, or anyone who loves the Boss:

My word, it was wonderful. The man is 73 and has amazing energy. He sang for three hours without stopping. The drummer would still be finishing a final riff and Bruce would start again: " One, two, three, four," and chords would crash and we were swept away on another amazing song.

I confess to only a spotty knowledge of the albums after Nebraska, but I knew more than 2/3. When he sang Born to Run, the stadium full of thousands sang at the tops of their lungs as one. I seem to be hoarse this morning!

And: Springsteen's Instagram posted today that Born to Run was released on August 25, 1975. I saw his show on the eve of the anniversary!

I was supposed to see him at one of his Philly shows recently which was unfortunately cancelled due to illness. Glad to see he seems to have recovered just fine. I saw him on a previous tour in 2009 where he would play one whole album in sequence and the night we saw him he played Born to Run - it was amazing.

Oh, to hear all of Born to Run live - almost tied with Darkness on the Edge of Town as my favorite. But Thunder Road (my name used to be Mary, so I can imagine it's about me) is one of my favorite songs, so Born to Run is a little in the lead.

The show's last big number was Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out, with a tribute to the Big Man (who, as you know, joined the band after the changes uptown). The pictures of Clarence across time were so moving.

I found this in the news - this is how Bruce described the band at the end of the show:

the “heart-stopping, pants-dropping, earth-shocking, hard-rocking, booty-shaking, earth-quaking, love-making, Viagra-taking, history-making, legendary” E Street Band.

He's an incredible showman. It got a huge laugh and so much applause.

@empliau i also love Darkness on the Edge of Town and would have been thrilled to hear that in its entirety but agree that Born to Run was at the top of my list. This would have been my fourth show - waiting to see when it gets rescheduled but they are speculating not until 2024 which is a huge bummer.

Bruce and the E Street Band played my alma mater (before my time, alas) more than a year before Born to Run was released. It was a beautiful spring day in a wooded outdoor theater, and apparently they played far longer than expected, for hours. They say it's the first documented public performance of the song Born to Run. April 28, 1974.

We were all so much younger.

Oh how fun to see another fan here besides @Daisys and Diamonds and myself! I’m glad you enjoyed the show. And yes, there’s something about seeing Born to Run played with the house lights up and everyone singing along.

I‘ve seen Bruce 60 plus times…five so far on this tour with two more scheduled. There’s been a lot of talk (complaints) about the static set lists this tour but the man is 73 and still puts on one of the best shows you’ll ever see.

My freshman year of college. It’s the album that got me hooked.

Sixty???
Amazing! You are a true superfan!

This is only my second big concert - it's just something it never occurred to me to do. Probably because in my youth it would have been camping on the sidewalk to get tickets, and I was reluctant.

Love to have our Bruuuuuuuce community within a community!

I found this in the New York Times:

a thumbnail review of “Darkness on the Edge of Town” that ran in Rolling Stone:... “Springsteen aims for moon and stars; hits moon and stars.”

HI:

I maintain that his concert was amongst the best I've ever seen. NO ONE works harder than Bruce!!!!

cheers--Sharon

I am a huge fan but a lot of the fun is meeting up with friends that I’ve made over the years when I go to a show.

And yes, while prices are crazy now, at least we don’t have to sleep on a sidewalk to get tickets!

My brother went to see him in Hyde Park London last month & said the same thing! He & I were really into Bruce as youngsters & my bro said he was blown away by the voice & the energy.

I would have desperately been with him if the school term was out. Damn you Bruce. Choose the school holidays next time….
