What is the best product to remove the brown spot on my skin please?

What kind of brown spot?

It may be something that requires attention by a dermatologist to make sure it isn't cancerous (i.e. changing colors, inconsistent coloring, changing size, changing, uneven or asymmetrical edges).

Otherwise, it may just require some kind of cream or ointment for fading.

I am guess you are talking about a sun spot? I have had luck with Obagi C but once you stop using it and go in the sun, your spot comes back.

I tried the Clinci dark spot remover or whatever it was called. Didn't see any difference at all. Someone said Shisesdo (the japanese brand) has a great spot remover so I was going to look into them next time I went to the mall.

I used a prescription 4% hydroquinone topical product on the spot (on my forehead), applied nightly, and probably 6-8 months later it finally went away.

CAUTION: always use sun protection if using hydroquinone products - preferably at least 30SPF.

2% hydroquinone products are readily available in drugstores and are worth a try - could take longer than if using the prescription 4% strength - and still need to use sun protection.

Thank you all! I'm gonna try 4% hydroquinone topical and come back to you with result.

HI:

I have one on my finger. No topical product I've used has worked. Neither did laser from my Derm.

Good luck.

cheers--Sharon

Sunscreen is always the first choice, but the only thing that really works is hydroquinone. There are a whole bunch of products selling plant extracts which are a natural and expensive form of hydronquinone. Hydroquinone is carcinogenic and can burn your skin, which in my opinion is another reason not to buy the unregulated "natural" versions. The FDA considers weak hydroquinone to be safe and effective but don't overdo it without talking to a doctor.

I don't think 4% cream is available over the counter in the US. It's even less available in some other countries, but it's also sold illegally in many of the same countries. Unfortunately there are a lot of naturally dark women who have used it excessively in an attempt to lighten the natural skin tone, leading to injuries, legal crackdowns, and illegal black market products. Again, this is not something I would mess with.

Konjic acid is supposed to work, but apparently it's so unstable that by the time you get it home from the store it's already useless.

Ive had good luck with Murad Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening serum. It is 2% hydroquinone.

If it's really annoying and expenses aren't an issue, go to a laser clinic, one visit and it should be done (so says my mom)!

I've gotten rid of freckles from multiple/weekly chemical peels, but that'll take you a while longer unless you get a really strong one done but ouch!

Be sure to visit a dermatologist before you have any laser treatments done because depending on what kind of brown spot it is, laser treatments can actually make it worse.

I had a small amount of melasma or chloasma on my forehead, I had some laser treatments and IPL done and it made the spots much worse. They darkened and spread all over my forehead. I eventually went to a dermatologist and she said while the hydro quinine cream will help, as soon as I went in the sun it would be undone. She also recommended going off the pill. I got the cream but hardly used it because I couldn't stay out of the sun 100% of the time. It took a while, but going off the pill and reducing sun exposure has helped reduce the melasma, especially this summer as I got bangs so my forehead hardly sees the sun! I do have a slight shadow on my upper lip though that annoys me, so I am going to give the cream a try over winter when I can limit the sun exposure better.

Stci, I would visit a dermatologist to see what they recommend you use. Different spots need different treatments and you don't want to accidentally make it worse like I did!

I've had photofacial and it does get rid of the brown spots but it took 4 treatments for me and they say that is normal. They
run the laser at different settings which work on the different shades of brown (or something like that). So, by the 4th
treatment all my brown spots were gone. I think it was about $800. That was about 6 years ago so more have crept up
even though I stay out of the sun and use protection. Wonder how your mom got rid of them in one visit? If thats all it
would take I'd have it done again.
