Ok, so yes, it''s really cheesy that I like her setting.. but..

Has anyone seen a setting like this, 2 thin plat bands with some pave it looks like. it also looks like a wedding band could sit in between those 2.

Just curious for any designer help. The PEOPLE mag article did not say who it was...

Thanks

yes i have seen that before. there is a thread on her ring in SMTR i think and someone else also posted links to similar styles. apparently it seems rather to be the IN thing right now. i was also thinking a w-ring could go inside, that would be an awesome look (3 pave bands). also the size of the stone I think plays some part in it, that's a 5c stone so the double bands showcase it very nicely.

Oh yeah, reportedly 5 carats. That's all I've heard.

thanks Mara, should have checked there first.. heading off to do so now!

only 5? she probably paid for it out of petty cash from her tour fund.

I wonder if the diamond characteristics have been artificially enhanced, kinda like the owner's CD voice tracks and certain body parts.

hehehehe....

and I don't think she needs to worry about wearing a wedding band...it won't be on that finger for very long if at all!

Dunn Jewelers

and quite a few fashion rings with large colored stones....

Either large or long stones get into these rings - the split shank seems to be the one way to keep a large ring from turning with the minimum amount of "meatl work". In person, I saw a larger marquise set this way to a quite pleasing effect.

... for example:

All these are quite a bit bigger than the object of the thread... and the more sensible deisgn solution brigs back together the shank in the back - it is more confortable and stable this way as well.

HI:

Yes, oh so popular.
One similar beauty that housed an 8 carat burmese sapphire was made by Taffin (jeweller for James de Givenchy) and was featured in the March Vogue. To die for.

I guess I am "cheesy" too. lol I like it too.

Thanks all for the pics and the links!

I liked her stone because.. at least from the picture.. the bands are really thin and the look like they don't meet in the back.. meaning they are "straight" around. Does that make sense? Also that it is a "roundish" stone - not an oval or emerald...

LOL about the band... I guess so right? - I just thought it would be really cool if a band could fit underneath the stone.

Her stone I first heard was 2 carats.. which honestly - it does look like. Solange's 4 carat in the SMTR thread looks MUCH bigger - unless Britney has "large" fingers or something. I can't see that being 5 whole carats... unless they are counting the pave? Maybe?

it looks like nice pave work (at least from this distance) on her ring....I love it when all you can see are the stones blinging, and not all that metal...I actually like the look b/c I hate (but do) wear my e-ring and large band together...water always gets trapped and it feels so gross...I do like the ice store version too...and I love the artofplat too!!!

Just think, the rock coulda been bigger had she not cancelled pretty much the rest of her tour! If she had wanted an different kind of e-ring, I bet she could have had the Onyx Hotel to sponsor her and paid for it outright!
