Hi ladies...

Thought I''d put it out there that their biannual sale is on. Prices aren''t that great...about 10% off, however babyage.com has a close out Boulevard on sale for 229.95 with a 2008 manufacture date (although it is probably early this year). If you don''t mind that the seat will "expire" earlier because of delayed use, then it may be a good deal. 7.95 shipping, although if you go to babycheapskate and read the britax fall sale post, you will find a free shipping code which did work online for me, but my credit card would not process. I had to call in my order and the lady said the code would not work for the low cost item - which was strange because it recognized it online. So if you can, try the code online, and if not, shipping is very reasonable at 7.95.

I picked it up because there are no real good prices out there so I snagged one and will return it if a better offer comes up.

Also, if you have a target near you, there are rumors out there that some have closeout boxes of marathons lying around for 70 bucks. If you see a Britax seat with a pattern that is not on display, have it scanned for a price...who knows, you might get lucky! For those of you in the South Bay in SoCal, I can vouch that the Redondo Beach (Galleria) and Torrance (Del Amo) Target don''t have any of those cheap seats!

Good luck!

Update - I cancelled my babyage order. I did the math and realized that if it''s an early 2008 manufacture date, I won''t be using it probably until the end of the this year, cutting a year off the the use of the product. The savings directly reflects uselessness of the year. Amazon has them for 279, but with 10% off (check babycheapskate for codes), it''s only $14 for the latest models (when you take into consideration the 7.95 shipping).

babyage was great about cancelling the order...I wasn''t impressed with the gal who took my order, but the one who cancelled it was great!

Thanks for the heads up. I guess it''s time for me to do some booster seat shopping since DD said, "Uh...Mom...Why am I still in a BABY seat? All my friends are in booster seats." LOL - she''s all of five and already a diva. *sigh* Perhaps she is ready for a big girl seat.

Ok, TGal, you lost me there with the 2008 manufacture date and their reflective uselessness.
Please explain.

TGal, you might want to wait until the next sale which I think is usually around January/February. We didn''t move Lily into her big seat until she was just about one. She weighed 20 lbs. and was about 29" or so at that point. Unless Amelia has a huge growth spurt soon, you may be ok to wait it out a little longer. But then again, it may be easier for you to just get it now! Just throwing it out there...

lili, all carseats have an expiration date. So let''s say this carseat was manufactured Jan 08 and expires Jan 2014 (boy, does that sound far away or what?). By the time I use it, let''s say it will be December 08.

So instead of 6 full years of use, I only have 5. Now, one might think - it hasn''t been used for one year and was just sitting in the box...shouldn''t it expire 6 years from start of use? Well, no. Apparently the plastics and harnesses detoriate from the manufacture date and to make sure these things don''t fail, they put expiration dates on them. It doesn''t mean that once you hit the expiration date, the seat is useless, but I wouldn''t want to go too many months PAST the date, if you know what I mean.

So if the seat is normally 300 for a new one, or you can get an older manufacture date for 250, it''s not necessarily a good deal since you get only 5 years of use compared to 6. Does that make sense?

Curly, yeah, I was thinking before that I may wait until the next sale, but I will probably use the seat beginning at the end of October. She is going to outgrow her seat before outweighing it! Plus we need another seat for my mom''s car and I was thinking I could use the infant seat there and use the britax in our car, then get another seat in Feb for my mom''s car.

Good for you for knowing this. It is an overlooked fact a lot of the time. You hear so much about the 20 lb. limit, but, not so much about height restrictions. Each carseat is different.

Ha Miranda...doncha know we PSers are all research freaks?

Another update because I''m an idiot. Rumor has it that the regal blvd from babyage has a manufacture date of 08/08. Someone on babycheapskate bought it and reported this back. The cynical part of me thinks that someone on babyage came and put of a false post, but I''ll take my chances - hehe. I reordered this time via the site and tried the free shipping code, figuring if it didn''t work and my order doesn''t go through, I''ll just buy the exact model I like at Amazon. My order did go through wit the free shipping, so if this does have a late DOM, then 229 is a good solid deal for the Boulevard.

This Britax sale sucks though. I was watching it in Feb and there were so many good deals. Apparently Britax put a cap on sales prices too. If they release it for the next sale, I''ll buy another seat for my mom''s car - I''m going to use my infant seat until then in her car (assuming that Amelia doesn''t outgrow it).

Oh, I did not know that.
I've seen parents using the same carseat from one siblings to the next -- so thought that they are good for life.
Good to know.

Wow, those boulevards are pretty discounted.
It is even cheaper than the marathon.
I think we'll go with the marathon since it is a bit smaller.
We don't have a suv and I think the boulevard may be a bit too big.

It''s pretty well the same base. It''s just heavier. I finally caved and got the blvd because we have the carseat in a starboard position and have side airbags. Figured we could use the extra protection in case the airbags deployed.

lili, go to baby cheapskate and read the britax fall sale post, and then read the comments. There are posts on how to save an extra 10% on marathons at Amazon. The cost, with free shipping is about 224. Just make sure that you click on a seat that is actually sold by amazon, as 3rd party vendors show up on the search and have marketplaces on Amazon.

I was looking into getting a second car seat for DH''s car this sale, but DH decided to get a new car and get rid of his coupe. So we will have to wait til DH gets his new car before we can decide what fits in there. Oh well we''ll wait for the next sale.

I think you''ll fine with an early ''08 manufacture date because I doubt you''ll use the convertible for 6 years. Even though it goes up to 65lbs, I think our kids wouldn''t want to be in the convertible when they get to 4 or 5 years old. By then, they would probably want to be in a booster seat.

For anyone who missed the "sale", babyage does still have the regal blvd for 229. I did receive mine today and it has a manufacture date of August 2008, so I am very happy with it!
