Bright stones to brighten my mood

COVID19 is stressful and upsetting, so I've been oogling some bring neon stones to make myself feel better. Thinking of creating a bypass or cluster style ring with "small but mighty" stones.

Bought these from Joe Henley (he is so freaking awesome).


Trying to find other small but neon ones as well (maybe tiny paraiba, Hauyne, "fanta" orange garnet, demantoid, etc). If anyone sees more "small but mighty" let me know!

Spinel (pink/red) and some "cobalt " blue. Am not counting on the blue actually being cobalt, but like the color regardless of label. From an IG vendor I have spoken with before.

I know you are doing a ring, but I keep seeing those cabs you bought as drop earrings like these emerald ones:

They're all so bright and lovely, but I'm partial to the last hot pink stone....just because it's one of my favorite colors. All the others are yummy too.

This thread is right up my alley. I hope to have a stone to contribute in the very near future.

I'm partial to the hot red/pink spinel and "cobalt" blues.

I'm a little more cautious with buying paraibas, although they are certainly incomparable for a bright neon turquoise. One of the reasons I buy paraiba primarily from Yvonne is that she works with setters who have experience setting them and has insurance for setting gems she sources. In the wrong setter's hands, paraiba can be very easy to break, as they tend to be as included or even more included compared to emerald. It also depends on how you intend to admire the gems. Are you planning to just keep them in gem boxes, or do you plan to set them?

Well I got the spinel cabs today. They are super nice, but just not quite as saturated as I was hoping for (which is why I confirmed with Joe that returns would be accepted). Here are some pics in low light. Its night here so this pretty much them looking their "worst".





So these will be returned (although very nice and Joe is super helpful and kind, and I recommend him to others).

However, I pulled the trigger on some amazing bright stones from desert rose

2 glorious paraiba, a pair of bright spess, and 9 spinel melee.

My funds are pretty tied up, and I'm not a huge cab person, but I would encourage @TheGarnetGirl to make a sweet ring and earrings with those cabs.

Final addition to the neon party will be some stuff from yvorskyy, since I have loved his stuff since forever. Here are the ones I'm considering. Favorites? All are sub .75ct and sub $400.

My favorites from those: top blue and bottom blue from the first post. The color saturation is and it's enough to make me overlook the wonkiness in shape. Favorite red/pink is the second from last cushion in the first post. Best green is the left stone of a pair. I'd set them separately.

I also am not sure if youre aware as Ive never told you but @lovedogs Ive always admired your taste in gemstones and your personal pieces!

So lovely!
& @voce you know me well! I totally would but I already told myself that I needed to chill a bit on buying.

But then I stretched my budget and got my first paraiba....



& then I told myself that I was for sure done done but then today on LT I saw this inexpensive cutie (its the smallest one) its a 6mm unheated orangey pink sapphire cab and had to have it!



& then I found a sweet little precision cut neon yellow tourmaline with slight green, cut with the universal symbol for radiation on it and am close to pushing the button.

Should I buy it?
It's about 5.6mm @.64cts and it's $100
Ive heard yellow tourmaline is somewhat rare and the most desireable has a slight green to it. Whatta ya think? Yay or nay?
