Wedding Bridesmaid dress help...

Alright, so I''m getting married on New Years Eve this year and I need your help finding bridesmaid dresses. My older sister and MOH absolutely refuses to wear anything longer than tea-length (and could care less that the wedding is in DECEMBER and the weather will be COLD). I never dreamed that I would be getting married in the winter (always thought I would be a summer girl) but have totally embraced the winter wedding. Our colors are ivory and black with touches of light to medium pink. I LOVE strapless bubble hem dresses but haven''t been able to find any as of yet. I would love to have a sash of ivory right below the bustline, but it''s not completely necessary.....any ideas?

The bridesmaids dresses were from Ann Taylor''s "Celebrations" collection. The dresses were "watermelon" and the sashes were "bubblegum". We had a fabulous expereince with Ann Taylor... I definitely recommend them.

How many bridesmaids are you planning to have? Considering that your sister is your MOH, you have a bit more flexibility when it comes to honoring her dress request. Would you consider putting your sister/MOH in a shorter dress and having the bridesmaids in longer dresses (the MOH and bridesmaids dresses being made of the same fabric and being the same color as one another)?

Thanks! I can''t take all the credit, though. I chose Ann Taylor and the dress color, selected a few cuts, and let the girls decide what dresses worked best for their bodies. Considering their body types were so different, I think it worked perfectly. One of my bridesmaids was hesitant about showing her arms, so the bridesmaids decided to wear wraps... they just ran the idea by me before they got the wraps made and I was thrilled. Come to think of it, they even decided on the sash color. Haha! They made some great choices.

I don''t know if you like the lift up bubble hem dresses, but my daughter is wearing this BM dress for a wedding in October. They are wearing them in black, but I''m sure it comes in a variety of colors and it is strapless like you requested...

Personally, I would stay away from buble dresses. They are cute, but when you look at your pics in a few years, it will look VERY dated; good for party wear, bad for bridal party wear, IMO. I think more traditional hems are more sophisticated and better suited for a wedding. They also tend to look silly on short girls.

I completely agree with Irish. We wouldn't have chosen them for my daughter's wedding, but :::shrugs:::: she didn't have a choice for her friends wedding. As pick up bubble dresses go, I am glad that my daughter had to purchase this one. I think it looks rather elegant considering some of the other bubble hem dresses I have seen. At least both of us may get some limited wear out of it at holiday time this year. Or I will. My daughter prefers things shorter.

I'm tall and pear-shaped and looked **horrendous** in a few bubble dresses I tried on recently. Really cartoonishly horrible on me, super-cute on the hanger/skinny models. Make sure any bubble dress will be flattering on your girls before falling too in-love.

I wouldn't worry too much about your attendants looking dated if you love the look and it works on them, its not the end of the world!

Miss. Pinky, are you thinking pink or black for the main dress color? I gather pink from your name, but black might be a little better suited to winter/New Years Eve and help amp up the formality if you are concerned with the less formal dress length. They could always be accented by some super-cute hot pink shoes

Personally, I would not want to be stuck in a bubble skirt as BM. And I do agree that the look is one that dates easily. But, that''s just me.

Have you thought about letting your BMs choose their own "little black dress"? They''d all be able to choose the style that flatters their body types, and you could still add an ivory sash if you wanted.

Just to echo Musincy, I love this subtly bubble dress from white house black market linky Makes legs look sooooooo long! I'm a bmaid (oh wow, actually a matron!) in November and we were told to pick out own little black dresses, so we are all getting these as they happened to look nice on us all and these stores are all over the place. Now that we are wearing matching dresses, the bride is thinking of having us wear matching sashes...you might not be able to see it, but the waist has a slimming satin band, so we might get matching ivory or rose sashes from White Aisle as the bride sees fit.

I''m definitely going with black for the dresses--and my sister said the same thing about the pink shoes. Also, my sister found this dress and really liked it. She apparently showed it to my three other bridesmaids and they all really liked it too.

I''m not concerned with the dresses looking dated in pictures; as long as my bridesmaids are happy, I don''t really care what they wear. I also gave them the option of all choosing different black dresses, but they all agreed that they would rather find one they all love.
