Thanks again to PS for all the education so far! I have read a bunch of posts and seen pics, but still trying to decide which BGD tiffany setting I want. FWIW, I'll be getting a yellow gold shank and likely around a 1.5 GIA EX K color diamond, also from Brian Gavin.

Choices are:

Half Round

Tapered Half Round

Knife Edge

Questions:
Does the tapered half round make the diamond look bigger? I know a lot of people seem to pick this one over the half round and I wonder if that's why??
Does the tapered have more of a cathedral look from the profile compared to the non tapered? I've seen a few pictures that would suggest so, and I don't prefer that look.
Seems like the majority of folks pick the knife edge. Is this likely because it is the closest to the actual Tiffany? I like the look, but can't imagine it would feel as comfortable as one of the other two.

Answers to those specific questions would be great, I can't imagine I am the only one interested in this showdown!
If you don't have answers to those specific questions, please weigh in with which of the three you would choose, and why.

Can't decide between the 1/2 round vs the tapered 1/2 round. I think both are more beautiful than the knife edge but... quite the hard decision!

The pics of the rose gold settings make me want to faint.

One vote for the tapered half round! I love that setting.

+1

A knife edge is not always comfortable to wear, so I would pick either of the other two.

I love the tapered setting; it really draws attention to the center.

Another vote for the tapered!

always a fan for the Tapered Half Round

I'm going to buck the trend and vote for the knife edge! I have one for my wedding band (no issues - other than 26.5 years later, the 'knife' is gone and is more of a 'hump' now!) and I also have a newer ring that also has a knife edge and I find there is no discomfort at all (as in, I do not notice it any more between my fingers, than any other shank on my other rings)

If I had a 2nd choice - it would be the tapered band =)

tapered half round:)

Tapered half round gets my vote

Another vote for tapered half round - love how it makes the diamond pop!

Half Round.

I prefer the regular half-round. I don't like the look of tapered rings for some reason (apparently I'm the minority on that though)...

My shank is almost identical to the tapered half round. I would say that it has a slight slight cathedral look but not so drastic that I would actually call it cathedral. I do find that it makes the diamond stand out more than a 2 mm shank going right up to the stone would. All of the options are lovely but I think if I were to choose I would get the tapered half round. It's a pretty fluid look, IMO.

tapered half round is amazing

Exactly!

I believe most people here would vote the same style that either

a: they received/have
or
b: they Wish they received/have

Not that there is anything wrong with that. My vote is for the knife edge. But the knife edge style is very distinctively Tiffany, even more so than the other other styles although they appear to reference Tiffany too. So you might be in a situation where people all guess that your ring is a Tiffany. Whatever that means to you.

Hey Tristan! So far it's just you and me voting for the knife edge... a very small and select club of 2! hahaha!!

I love tapered half round!!! beautiful!

Have you tried on a knife edge setting?

I ask because I'm one of those who really *does* find them uncomfortable, and I was surprised to learn this because I'm fine with bold milgrain, engraving, pave, and other irritants between my fingers.

If you do find them comfortable then that's my vote for this particular setting!

Knife edge is hellishly uncomfortable on my hands as well.

I vote half round, no taper.
