I don''t think that they are yet because their company isn''t even up and running at full steam! LOL! Their website isn''t even up. I think they are staying busy on word of mouth referrals.
That''s important...and I think Pricescope would see it being reasonable to give it space to be able to do that, but...Regular Guy, I suspect she means in the technical sense in that they pay to advertise
I don''t know that Pricescope or many of its readers would consider that advertisers are also "approved" in any sort of way...but others may see it differently.and be on the list of approved PS vendors.
You know, now I am wondering what it means to be a "PS recommended vendor" at all? Whence comes this list?Date: 6/12/2009 7:21:52 PM

For example, that diamond guy, I''ll bet, could advertise here, too, but he might have the good sense to just not do that...
I am working with them now and am very happy so far... list or not!Date: 6/12/2009 7:45:27 PM

I was just curious and even if they aren''t currently a vendor and I was planning a purchase, I would consider them, ''approved'' or not. Actually, I think the deal is I has assumed them to already be on the list and surprised to not see them. . .surely they will be soon.![]()

I think there is a distinction that needs to be made between ''PS vendor'' and ''PS approved vendor''.
A PS vendor is anyone who pays to advertise here. (IMO)
A PS approved vendor is a vendor that we all know, have bought from, and will recommend based on past experiences. (IMO)
Personally I see them as two separate lists that aren''t mutually exclusive.
I agree about this distinction, but you know we throw around the term "PS vendor" all the time talking to posters and it isn''t at all clear which we mean.Date: 6/12/2009 9:03:56 PM

I agree with this assessment, neat. Would not hesitate to work with BGD just because they are not an official advertiser here yet.

OK Icekid, I'm confused. You a) would hesitate, because they are not an official advertiser, or b) would not hesitate, even though they are not an official advertiser?![]()

Interesting question, MC. I think it's safe to say that there are many vendors who are supported in part by PS traffic and word-of---keyboard (?) from PS participants that probably aren't helping to support the forum through their advertising dollars. Some sites would try to limit that, but PS doesn't seem to, which is to our benefit as consumers and is pretty magnanimous, reallly. Plus it supports the larger jewelry and gemstone community. (I wonder how many of the CSF-favored vendors sell a large portion of their inventory to PS readers?)
ETA are there really any "PS approved" vendors? That is, have the vendors that advertise on PS met some sort of (formal or informal) criteria set by the hosts? Or to put it another way, if PS posters reported frequent customer service issues with a PS advertiser, would that advertiser be told to take their advertising dollars elsewhere?
and another ETA -- when it comes to PS "member" recommendations, I'd want to throw in those few extra words and refer to vendors that many PS'ers recommend, as opposed to "PS approved vendors." I do understand that it's shorthand for the same idea, but I don't like to be putting words in anyone else's mouth. I blame it on what I do for a living.![]()

All good questions. I think Icekid wouldn''t hesitate to deal with them if they are not an approved PS vendor. Of course I cannot speak for her, but am thinking that''s what she meant.Date: 6/12/2009 9:03:56 PM

In other words, we know Brian have come to trust him. He has earned his stamp of approval with us. His reputation speaks for itself and in the diamond industry that''s what makes you or breaks you!!![]()

This is an excellent point DS. Certain vendors I feel very comfortable buying from specifically because I know that *they* know I am an active member on PS, and they know that if they make me happy I will write about my experience, and if they make me unhappy... well you get the picture.Date: 6/13/2009 10:57:47 AM

I totally agree that it is a proven reputation that puts one on ''the desirable vendor list''. I would not buy from all the advertisers on this site.
However, I do want to add that there is some protection buying from vendors who depend on this site for a lot of their business. They have a strong reason to keep customers happy because they come back here and report on good and bad experiences. Even though someone like BG is not currently officially advertising here, I am sure that a lot of his business is coming from his repuation on this forum. Therefore, I would consider him a completely safe vendor to buy from.
