Can anyone tell me the difference between a brilliant cut cushion vs. a modified brilliant cut cushion? Is one better than the other? Is one more expensive than the other, if so why? I only see this on GIA certificates and not as an attribute included in the lists of attributes on the various internet sites.

Also, are diamonds less expensive if they are cut in India as opposed to Antwerp? How can one tell where they are cut? A salesperson inferred that internet diamonds are probably cheaper because they are cut in India. I don''t agree with her statement, but don''t know what''s true.

Thanks!

A cushion brilliant has more of the antique look, larger chunky facets. The cushion modified brilliant usually has a crushed-ice appearance, similar to a radiant. I am not sure about the price differences but I personally prefer the cushion brillant over the modified.

The difference between a cushion brilliant and a modified is:

A cushion brilliant has 57-58 standard facets that are positioned as a standard "brilliant" arrangements..., it becomes modified when you start to add facets or change their arrangement away from the standard brilliant...!

Price has nothing to do with if the Diamond was cut in India or in Antwerp..., the price of the Diamonds depend mainly on their quality (of the cutting or material.)
