Hi there,

My future fiance and I have just bought this diamond:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12593

We still have the option to exchange/ return if required. But we'd like some reviews on what is there.

We are relatively knowledgeable in this area, but by no means experts like the folks on here. We just recently registered on there (to post this topic) but are long-time fans of the comments and critiques out there.

We realize this isn't the world's PERFECT stone, colour etc. However, we want something that is very pretty, very well cut, and will look nice for years to come.

If there is anything the link doesn't tell you/ show you, i'll try my best to respond.

Kind thanks,
AM

Is it eyeclean? I have my doubts.

Yes,

I was a bit doubtful as well. I do have a video. I'll try to figure out the link.

That was important to me.

I believe the major inclusion - per the photos, will be covered by a prong of the ring, but the video I was sent appears eye clean and their inspection revealed the same.

Hi OP, looks nice to me! Looks very white, only just slightly creamy next to the F. Is the F a similar make as the larger I? In the last shot, I wish he had moved the diamonds to watch them in motion together.

What are your thoughts?

@luvdajuls

The F was (per what I was advised) leaking too much light. They were not interested in placing a lifetime guarantee on that stone and so it was out of the running for me. Otherwise, it seemed pretty - but the options for later on and the lifetime guarantee were a deal breaker. It actually worked out nicely that the larger stone seemed to win in this case. Not the usual course of events.

With respect to the 'similar make' question, I'm not sure I can answer that. They were both 'called in stones'. I do know that all were GIA triple excellent. There was actually a third stone, but the third had a dark inclusion in the table so it was ruled out and not video-taped.

This is on the 'low end' of the specs I wanted, but I was really aiming for 2 ct and above (or as close as possible) within our budget. So I was excited as anything when the largest one 'won'.

Not that i'm having buyers remorse - i'm not, but I figured I'd roll the dice and see what pricescoppers said about it.

thanks OP, that's what I thought, the F was leaking a bit. I agree, you have a nice sized stone and it outperformed that F, at least to me.
I believe this diamond fits your agenda and has the lifetime guarantee. Good job.

I really like it. Will you be having GOG set it? I recommend that you do.

Looks like a very pretty stone. You can use prongs to cover at least one of those inclusions if it does bother you (if you can actually
see it). I couldnt see a thing in the video.

@Andelain

We ordered a Michael M setting and they will set the stone for us (All from Good Old Gold).

The setting was only ordered yesterday though and it is a 4 week back-log.

I will absolutely update the thread/ add it to somewhere on here when we receive it.

I'm the lucky recipient of this stone when its all ready to go. I'm much too type A personality and interested in diamonds for this to have been a suprise (whereas Mr. AstonMartin loves cars). We have an agreement that he'll pick the fast cars and i'll pick the jewelry. I'm ok with that cause he likes Lambo's - one day....haha. not quite *There* yet.

We found Good Old Gold through the forums and visited them on a trip to NYC in July. It took us a few months to pull the trigger but we've had a great experience thus far. Fingers crossed the rest goes smoothly - its all such a nervous experience.

I like the stone and look forward to seeing it set.. Congratulations. best wishes!

So because the initial video was a 'select between these two' video, I've requested one more to be sure with a diamond review. I just want them to try and point out the features. If this is sent i'll try to post it as well...

Other thoughts?

I can't believe how nervous this has made me !!! and i'm supposed to be the composed one!

Ok here is the updated video - any other comments?

Video Details:
Note he mentions 2.3 but that is the stone we bought - the 2.23....for reference.

Scene #1 - Side view of diamond. The sky is blue which is why the pincer (diamond holder)is reflecting blue. The same goes for the diamond.

Scene #2 (0:19) - I included another diamond (2ct I SI1 with no fluorescence). The new diamond is on the right and the 2.3ct is on the left. I included the new diamond to show you that it's the sky and camera coloration and not the fluorescence making the diamond appear blue.

Scene #3 (0:35) - The diamond is outside in indirect sunlight. / (1:10) - I included the diamond with no fluorescence on the right.

Scene #4 (1:42) - Both diamonds (with fluorescence and without) are not in direct sunlight and placed in front of a white background. The 2.3ct is on the left once again.

Scene #5 (2:11) - I placed the diamond in front of a white background from the side view. The diamond with no fluorescence is on the left / a new "D" color diamond with no fluorescence is in the center / the 2.3ct is on the right.

Scene #6 (2:33) - The same as the last scene, but just face up.

Scene #7 (3:03) - The diamond on the left is the one without fluorescence. The diamond on the right has fluorescence and this was the only view where I could see a difference. The diamond on the left looks more yellow and the diamond on the right looks more white (not to be mistaken with hazy or cloudiness).
