I do not want to throw names since they are spoken highly of by some PS-ers. And I do not want to involve ebay, because I do not want to make life difficult for honest vendors and also, because, honestly, for a 10 dollar purchase you may expect more slackish service than for a 500-dollar one. (And do not tell me it is not so! Because some people just overcharge for their products, and some sell them at bargain prices). But I bought two stones, paid, the Paypal invoice dates back to 6/11 and no sight of stones. The vendor is from USA. I sent a message via ebay...no answer. I sent an direct email...waiting for an answer. My only concern is that they may not check their ebay website. Is it possible?

In the meantime, I bought a piece of spinel from them. I''d like to buy more, but I also want to be sure that I get this stuff. I have no clue how these stones look like!

Amguy and other ebayers, is it technically possible not to know that something has been bought from your website? Or does Paypal automatically inform you? Is it possible not to be informed of what happens on your Paypal account? Or is it always connected to your email? Although I know people who do not check their emails either...

My experience with ebay is that if someone is sending you money, you get an email.I sold stuff ages ago on ebay and if someone had a question sent through ebay, I got it in my email.

Granted, I''ve had stuff go into the junk bin that wasn''t supposed to but I double check that.

I know you don''t want to throw stones but any tinsy bit of a clue??
Most of my US purchases via ebay have been decent and quick sans the one where I had to give a negative (ishtty service, and equally ishtty attitude.)

Well...no. I understand these people are honest and good vendors, and honestly, for this price I can wait. They may also be attending a gem show or what not. I always give people a certain leeway unless they sell total c**p or are dishonest. (But luckily, we have Amguy, our watchdog, protecting us from unsafe buyers!). But delay in shipping is not good for them, either. They have absolutely no feedbacks, and I would like to leave one, but if the stones are delayed for more than a month, I can not even leave it! I have lots of stuff to work on, and bigger mess to clear up now but I am just curious.

There''s no excuse for not answering your emails BUT it is only 7 working days since you made your purchase. Give it until Friday - then send one more email. If you don''t get your stones or a reply to your email then open a Paypal dispute for goods not received.

Vendors are notified when an item sells on Ebay. They are also notified when payment is made so unless the Vendor is on holiday, then he/she will most definitely be aware of the sale.

I had numerous cases where the seller wasn''t responding to my emails .. and magically the item pops up at my door. Some sellers are just really slow with email and tends not to respond (ex. Bob Kast).

Bob, finally, responded to my email and sent the stone my way. But now a horrible suspicion crept into my soul... I chose a certain stone and e-mailed the number to him. Now another pink tourmaline is marked as "sold", and mine is still there...Did he mistakenly send me another one? Both are pretty, but it would be an interesting experience to get another stone instead of "mine".

I shall keep you posted. I am rather good-natured, and his stones are inexpensive, so I can find the use for this one, too. But I hope I still receive "mine".

Hi There, Crasru: Forgive me if I didn't search well enough to already know this, but
Did you ever get your stone?
The same thing is happening to me now.
After a few emails, I finally just sent a paypal payment
because I figured that must be how you do it.....
Even so, no word, no email, and no "sold" sign on the stone!
huh?

I for one would very much appreciate knowing which sellers these were - even if just so that I can rest easy despite a delayed arrival.

OK, I did get mine. And the sellers were pretty nice in returning my emails - apparently, someone else was managing their website and the person fell ill. I am not disclosing their names for one reason - actually, the stones that I received were very cheap and totally true to description. Which said approximately the following, the color is saturated, and the cut is good and the stones are included but you'll love them. Which is exactly what happened. For the price that I paid I got a beautiful amethyst, saturated and unheated, totally natural and paid only $ 5.00 - what more can a girl ask for? I left a positive feedback and still plan to buy from them.

I never bought from Barry - it just happened that most of the time I was looking for different types of stones, or missed his best ones, but he surely is easy to communicate with. And I have never worked with Embassy. MasterCutGems never returned my emails but later I found out that Dana was sick. LIsa should definitely be added to the list. Amethystguy is pretty prompt.

Ironically, the person who did not communicate very well sold me an excellent stone! Bob Kast, who was late in returning emails, marked another stone as "sold", made me anxious, sold me a wonderful tourmaline! Actually, in hindsight, I wish I started my collection with his stones and then went up rather than the opposite way.

That's good to know, thanks!!!!

Ditto on Bob Kast’s rather flaky communication; he does have some very nice pink tourmalines to be had for a song and a dance though.

Well, I just emailed him again tonite......
Oh, and there is still no "Sold" sign on the stone (?)
No acknowledgment of payment received either
(payment made via PayPal, you get a message in your inbox that says "You Got Money" or something like that...
Think you wouldn't open it??????)
