First of all, I would like to thank the PS community for providing an amazing amount of information for me to read and review as I researched how to find the best possible diamond for my budget.

After a few months of education and about a month of real shopping around I settled on this diamond:

http://www.bluenile.com/ca/diamond-details/LD05327421

1.44 H SI 1, medium blue fluorescence

Depth 60.1
Table 58
Crown 33
Pavilion 40.8

Comes out with a TIC of 0.8 and Excellent on all four factors in HCA, which I know is not a guarantee of quality but I'm really happy with what I found and the price! Confirmed that the SI1 is eye clean which is great.

It will be set in a classic halo setting.

Thanks for all of your help, looking forward to proposing!

Would love your feedback as well...I know it's not perfect per PS standards (table over 57, crown under 34) but it was excellent bang for my buck in my opinion and I had to compromise in order to meet the carat size I wanted (1.4-1.5).

I't's a 60/60 style. You seem to already know it's flaws (low crown), and as you said you made an informed decision to go for a larger stone knowing that. There is nothing wrong with that. I think you did good, provided it is eyeclean to your standards. Did you check with Blue Nile about htat?

Thanks! Yes I checked with them, it is eye clean as per the standard of what eye clean means, so face up 6 inches away.

I also have a question that I forgot to include in my original post. There a few twinning wisps and feathers in the diamond (see GIA report) and I read that feathers can be a durability issue in the long term...what do you think?

They can. It's stone specific. If it's a feather in a princess at one of the corners, then yeah, it's to be avoided, for example. It depends on the position of it, the size of it, whether it breaks the surface.

You should have your stone appraised once you get it by a good independent appraiser and they will tell you if there is a worry.
