bought a loose diamond and a setting from different vendors

Hello,

I bought a loose diamond from Brian Gavin and the setting from Diamondere. I live in NYC and would like to have the diamond set locally. Does anyone have any recommendation on place to go and prices and on how should go about doing this as I do not want to be fooled with the old bait and switch since I am in NYC. Any advice would be awesome!!!

People more informed may be able to help, but really a jeweler makes money off the stone, the setting, or both. Asking a jeweler to set a stone in a setting, neither purchased from the jeweler is problematic. At the very least they will charge you. Be aware if they accidently chip etc your stone you will have to absorb that cost (their insurance probably doesn't cover your stone).

Do not have it set locally. It's frankly not a smart move.

There is a very simple solution to this problem. Send both to BGD, they will set your stone in your setting. Since you bought it from them they will insure it while setting. And there will be no bait and switch. And you will have peace of mind.

There is a right way and wrong way to do things. This is the right way.
