Weve been in LA for just two months and hating apartment living. With prices as crazy as they are here we never thought we would find something worthwhile.... so we werent looking too hard. Our house in Chicago is in escrow and today we went to a sales event, and got a townhouse! I am so excited! It is a new development in the south bay, right near where our first LA get together was. This is going to be such a fun year, planning a wedding and picking out everything for a new house!

Just had to share. I''m terribly excited.

Congratulations! Shopping for house stuff is sooo much fun!

Congratulations, MsFlutter!!

I live in the South Bay and can appreciate how ridiculous the housing prices can be! Enjoy your new Place! Is it in Manhattan Beach? How exciting!!

Congrats!!!!

How exciting Msflutter!!! I well remember buying our first house. You will have so much fun decorating and having a place you can call home!! Congrats!!!!

Thanks ladies! I''m really excited. Its much smaller than my FI''s house in Chicago. But its the first house i get to pick out what kind of floors and tiles and kitchen. Cant wait!

It actually isnt in Manhattan, I wish. Across the street is Manhattan Beach, it is actually a hawthorne address. Which means property taxes are ALOT less.

Thanks again for the well wishes!

Congratulations! Wait till you sleep in your house for the first time, you really do feel different. It''s great to own something!!! Congrats again

Congrats! That is awsome!!!! I cannot wait to hear all about what you put in your new house!

Congratulations! It will be so nice to get to pick all the details of everything in your house rather than having to live with stuff someone else chose! How wonderful!

Congratulations on finding a place! That''s something of an accomplishment here in the South Bay. It does seem like the market has slowed down since last year, so you got in at just the right time. Have a blast decorating!

Congratulations! There is nothing like picking out things for your new house!

Congratulations, MsFlutter. You found your house pretty fast. I remember when we were talking about it at the GTG. I am thrilled for you. Have fun with the decorating.

Oh, Msflutter, how terribly exciting!

You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but Weston and I are spending only one more year here in Dallas and planning on moving to the LA Area - I'm gunning for the beach cities, but have been worried about just how much owning a home will cost. Again, feel free to not answer, but would you mind telling me approximately how much the townhouse was, and do they have any online brochures from the builder or anything? We'd appreciate it immensely.

I am so very excited for you! What a thrill!
I am currently obsessed with looking for a house!
It''s hard to stop once you''ve started.

Have fun decorating!

WOO HOO!!!! That is such awesome news. I know exactly which development you''re talking about. It''s in a great area- very convenient to all.

Don''t mean to hijack, but I just put my Redondo townhouse on the market- efffective today. I''m a little sad about it....

Chargergirl,

I am really excited about moving and having our own house again. Its not going to be ready till Feb, which is fine with all I have going on now. Good luck selling your house. Must be a little sad leaving such a great area. Heres to hoping it sells quick!

congrats msflutter! I can imagine how excited you must be (we want a house so badly!!).

lauren,

Things are certainly not cheap out here, but the building we got is the best deal on new construction we have seen. We also lucked out and got a good spot on the interest list. Thats how it works with new construction, they either do a lottery or an interest list.

here is the info on the townhouse, we wanted a D but there was only an F available when our number was called, so we took it!

Congratulations, Ms. Flutter!!!!!!

I understand the lottery idea, but can you explain interest list? I''m on the east coast, and I''ve never heard of these. What is D - F?

Congrats MsFlutter!!! I will think about you every morning when I drive past your new house on the way to work! How exciting!!!!
