Okay, I *never* would have thought to do these, but I''ve heard more and more about them and am considering them for a wedding present - I''m pretty sure FI would love them!

Aside from getting in better shape before going, does anyone here have any thoughts/advice?

Anyone done them and be willing to share?

What would I wear? How much should I expect to spend?

Sorry, I''m a little clueless. . .

I know there was a thread on this maybe 6 months back. Someone had a link to some tasteful shots (not of themselves). I will have to look for it. I would say it would run you in the neighborhood of maybe $300 Probably most range $200-500. Im guessing it is like regular photography prices and fluxuates alot with location and reputation. You could talk to your wedding photographer, but you might want to get someone who "specializes" in them or atleast does them often.

Most of the ones i have seen have been in nice lingerie (maybe a flattering corset or babydoll) or a matching bra and panties set. Some had girls in their man''s favorite team''s jersery and cotton underwear, that kind of stuff. Women with men in uniforms like cops or firemen sometimes dress up in a more revealing version of that for them...if you get my drift. It can range from downwright raunchy to classy and artistic. All depends on what you think FI would like and what you feel comfortable posing in. If your FI was into his heritage you could do something to celebrate that, like a dutch maiden or geisha or....leprachaun lol i dont know. Im not very cultured but you see where I am going.

Here is a link to one site i found just by googling it. photos dont look too bad. some of them are kind of artsy like the one with the women unhooking her bra; not racy at all.

http://www.brystan-studios.com/portrait/women/boudoir.html It says that there is a $150 special going on and that the shot includes makeup, hair, and wardrobe, custom sets and props. Looks like at that place you tell them what you are looking to look like, or even ask suggestions, and they set you up.

I am sure you can find tons of example by googling. I know the knot forums tackled this topic too. I would just look at the photos online to get a feel for what you might want.

I have done things along those lines and I have one suggestion that has come up in the past. A friend of mine''s BF loved the idea of the pictures but hated they idea that a man was taking them of his BF.
Other than that, a good one can make you look really wonderful. You will look better if you are doing something in your comfort level, so wearing bra and panties might be a little too much and that is fine.

Thanks ladies! Gwyn, I *love* the style of the photographer you found - more tasteful and less. . .I don''t know. . .Playboy.

Have you heard of anyone in the NY metro area or NYC suburbs? I''ve googled a couple of times, but I''m not really having much luck, especially since, like brazen, not only would FI probably be more comfortable with a female photographer, I know I would!

hey if you can pull it off then go for it. i''d love to have the figure and gumption to do them.

i think MY FI would laugh his head off if i did something like that - he''d wonder what the heck happened to the "real" ringster, ha ha! but that is because i''m pretty casual most of the time

I''m not entirely positive about either - I could stand to lose a few (or a few dozen) pounds - and I''m kind of wavering between thinking this sounds like such a cool idea and being a little embarassed for even considering it. . . I think it''s going to come down to if I can find a photographer in the NY area that I''m comfortable with. . .our wedding photographer is a guy and he kind of reminds me of my dad - so he''s definitely out. ewwwwwww. . . .

buttercup,
Do you know any photogs? My daughter did a really nice shoot for her FI for his b-day present and it was really tastefully done. Just a Victoria''s Secret black lace bra and matching lace boyshort type bottoms. She was making brownies...very tasteful

The photographer was a guy, but it was one of her FI''s best friends and he will also be shooting the engagement and the wedding photography during the period of time that the hired ones won''t be able to shoot. She was covered even more than a bathing suit would cover, so she wasn''t embarassed, although she said it was wierd to try to act sexy in front of FI''s friend.

Option 2, if you have a camera, is to do them yourself!! I did some with my own camera using the timed shooting feature. I was able to place the camera in the right positions and then set the timer and it will take two shots with a ten second count down. (The camera was $150 at Costco)

If you know someone with photoshop or graphic arts ability, they can digitally enhance the photo and soften any rough edges, or in my daughter''s case, completely remove the scar on her arm. My niece was able to retouch it and make that disappear

GO FOR IT!!

Hi Buttercup,

I know of at least 2 photographers in NYC area that take awesome b-pics. One is Mariann from Blue Daisy Weddings, http://www.bluedaisyweddings.com/
and the other is Something in Blue, http://www.somethinginblue.com/- they are a husband and wife team who work together. I did meet with Mariann from Blue Daisy in person when we were looking for our wedding photographer= both MH and I liked her very much. Her pics are gorgeous too!! In the end we did end up choosing someone else just b/c we clicked a little more with the other photographer. But I think Mariann is very sweet and very talented. Something in Blue takes awesome pics too, but I think you would have to be comfortable with both a male and a female photographing you...I am not sure if you could request a female only with them, but you can always call and ask...

Good luck!!!!

eta: I would think that a b-pic session would be something like 2 hrs and would run about $500-$800. That's just based on what I've heard. I am curious to see what you find out b/c I am also considering getting them done for MH for our 1 year anniversary in September. I know its something he would really enjoy, plus you are supposed to give paper as a gift for the one yr anniversary, so I think that would be a really cute idea!!! So make sure to come back and post about it!!!

you know, i don''t even think that you need the "model" figure for these. you just need the cajones and feeling of comfort with yourself to do it. and i totally give you props for considering to do it!

if you''d like to do this for yourself and your guy then by all means go for it. my FI is a bit of a brat sometimes and i know this, so unfortunately something like this would be totally lost on him.

This was also discussed on WeddingBee and I think there were NYC photographers mentioned. You might want to look it up.

I think it''s an awesome idea. I didn''t do it, but I applaud anyone who has the courage to go for it!

Where do you live? Maybe people can refer you to someone if we know where you are.

This is pretty popular on the local board on the Knot that I read. I''d suggest that your local Knot board would be a good resource for finding someone to do these.

Honestly, I think it''s cool because I see it as something that boosts your self-confidence and it''s kind of empowering...but I''m not sure what would be done with the photos afterwards? I mean, my husband won''t be into looking at the photos if I''m right there, and it''s not like you can put them up and display them. And what if my future kid found them as a teenager? Eew!

Thank you for everyone''s help and encouragement!

miracles - sadly, I have no photog friends... I might try to do them myself - we''ll see if I have the coordination. It might just be easier to leave it to someone else.

Dani, thanks for the names, I will look into them.

sumbride - I had never even heard of weddingbee, so I will have to look there.

surfgirl - I live about 20 miles north of NYC so I can easily get into the city and northern NJ, etc.

basil - that''s kind of where I get hung up, too. . .maybe a small private album? I don''t even know. I''d like to be able to check my local knot board, but it is not nearly as easily viewable as pricescope and I haven''t really gotten much useful there so far. . .unless I''m navigating it wrong or something, which is possible.

Thanks again for all the help!
