Jewelry of the "Schmuckmuseum"
6 — 8 pm
Trustee Room

Ursula Ilse-Neuman, Curator of American Craft at the Museum of Art & Design (MAD) in New York City, will introduce us to the Jewelry Museum (Schmuckmuseum) in Pforzheim Germany, the world’s only museum dedicated exclusively to jewelry and one that remains little-known in the United States. The discussion will include the museum’s origin and vital role in one of the world’s major jewelry manufacturing centers and look at important objects from the museum’s collection spanning Greek, Etruscan and Roman jewelry through striking works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, Art Nouveau and Art Deco to the present day. While the Pforzheim documents the evolution of jewelry throughout the ages, emphasis will be placed on the impressive collection of modern art jewelry, mostly from Western Europe, from the past sixty years.

Very cool! Thanks for the info

Nice..unfortunately I think you have to be a member of their costume/textile society ($150 individual/$75 student) which is a bit steep for me at the moment...
