Hi everyone!! my house has FINALLY come to a stage where it is time to look for the electronic items that we want assembeled in our kitchen..i will need a built in microwave and oven in addition to a flat top electric hob.

i have been looking around, and have seen nothing that i liked..but i do love the Bosch line....(my current gas oven actually is a bosch), but i just wanted opinions on the electric models they have...

has anyone tried any of their ovens? wat do u think of them? good? bad? too pricey? just right??

We only have one agent that sells bosch in Bahrain and for the models i''ve tentaively selected, the total cost for the 60cm built-in microwave, oven, electric flat top and chimney exhaust have added up to approx US$2800. I have selected the mid-range out of all these items..

does that seem reasonable? too pricey??

I''m a bit confused with your terms. Do you mean just the cooktop, with a separate wall oven? Electric? I can look at Consumer Reports for you maybe, although I don''t know if they''d have the exact model you are referencing.

I just bought a Jennair range (all in one), and we have a love/hate relationship going with it. The oven is wonderful! The smooth top is always dirty and requires much more care than I thought it would. I would go with gas next time. You have more room on a smooth top, but I swear I''m cleaning it 5-6 times a day even when it hasn''t been used.

hmm..sorry, didnt mean to confuse ppl..

our kitchen cabinets will have a seperate location for the built in-electric oven and microwave (on top of each other)...then on the counter top, id have a seperate electric burner top...hope that makes sense?

my biggest concern was trying to maintain it and keeping it clean....how come u had to clean it so often? did it gather dust very quickly?? (and coz its black it showed more??)

ETA: Thanks for suggesting checking the consumer reports, but i think it would be a hassle to ask anyone to check for specific model types (i do have the #s on me though)..i was just curious to see how those who had electric Bosch items were faring and their thoughts on it..

Well, the Bosch cooktop scored 78, with 85 being the top ranking on an Electrolux model. It''s only "con" seemed to be a not so great "high" option on the elements. So, sounds okay to me.

My range is white with a black top and black glass door. You can see every fingerprint or anything on that surface. But mainly we find that if there is a drip of anything at all that you miss, and then you use the cooktop, it gets burnt on. It''s definitely because black shows more. I didn''t like the look of the white tops, but can now see how they''d hide a lot more. We have a microwave installed above it with the exhaust fan, and the light from that shines on the cooktop which of course highlights it even more. Just a personal peeve really. Just like stainless steel appliances are a nightmare with fingerprints. If you go into it knowing about the upkeep, it''s no big deal. I have wipes that I use several times a day, and the proper cleaner and scraper for serious stuff. Really, for us the big thing was we needed a huge convection oven, and the Jennair had one of the largest, and it works a dream. We''ve both sworn at the timer function on the oven, and pushed cancel accidentally, or had minutes changed to hours. All silly stuff.

hehe..thanks for the input...well we won''t have the ligh shining down on it, so hopefully that will mask some of the finger prints ;)....

i''ll keep looking around, but there is such a limited variety for these kind of ovens here!!!

HI:

Fingerprints notwithstanding--I love my Bosch appliances. All of them. I''ve had a few brands over the years, and so far my Bosch range is my favorite.

cheers--Sharon

Thanks Sharon!! thats such a relief to hear ur happy with them..

i need to finalize my selection today/tomorrow and its so stressful!! hahha

I like Bosch for something things, mainly dishwashers, but nothing cooks like a Viking.

I have Thermador and I have to say that I do like them. Wolf is also great.

thanks for the suggestions ..Unfortunately, i am very limited with my choice of brands ...stove tops and built-in electric ovens are not very popular here therefore very little companies carry them...
