I posted this diamond in an earlier thread. Strm mentioned it was borderline H&A. I''m definitely not disputing anything, but was hoping the experts out there could let me know how to determine a true H&A from borderline. Even better if you use the diamond I was looking at as an example.

I don''t know squat about diamonds compared to you experts, so I''m just hoping you could clue me in since my eye, experience, and knowledge don''t allow me to be as discerning.

This is the Diamond

Thanks!

It would be best if strm tells you what he is seeing, for me one of the hearts is off and an arrowhead, this page explains more on how to evaluate h&a images.

I agree with Lorelei, best to get it straight from strm. And here are 2 more links that I used for my personal research.

Thanks Cheradrian and Lorelei,

I found those links helpful.

Figuring where to put the cut off is hard, here is what I do.
I look at the hearts are they reasonably even? Right on my edge of reasonable.
If some are uneven do opposites match? Yes
In this case it is above my line if opposites didn''t match then it would be under.

new lets look at the helium report and figure out what is going on.

look at the crown and pavilion variation...
Rather high for the look of the diamond.
Lets see what else we can find.

woops here is the image...

Then we look at this section which measures the crown and pavilion separate.
Much much tighter.

Those that have been following Garry''s teachings are going uhuh right now :}

2 possibilities,

One uneven girdle, the crown and pavilion are not lined up on top of each other..

Nope that is not it....

The answer slightly tilted table which has 0 impact on performance.

Thanks Strmrdr! I''ll admit that some of that is over my head, but I get the underlying concept. Thanks for taking the time to educate me.

Also, any chance I could convince you to look at my 4 other choices from WhiteFlash? I''d be happy to pare it down even more if needed. I started a thread called "help me decide".
