Hello All,

First off, let me start by saying that PS is awesome and these forums have been a blessing.

My questions: Does anyone know if there is big difference between BlueNile''s Signature Ideal and Ideal cut diamonds? Has anyone here bought a signature ideal or ideal cut from BlueNile?

My reason for asking is that I am comparing 2 diamonds. Now, both have an "Excellent" grade for polish and symmetry, and both have a score < 2 from HCA. The one thing that stands out from the comparison of these two diamonds is that one is 1.37 ct (ideal cut)and the other is 1.25 ct (signature ideal cut); both are relatively the same price.

Here is diamond 1 (signature ideal):
Signature Ideal Cut Diamond
Depth % - 61.9
Table % - 56 %
Crown angle - 35.0
Pavillion angle - 40.6
HCA score - 0.9

Diamond 2 (ideal):
Ideal Cut Diamond
Depth % - 61.9
Table % - 55
Crown angle - 34.5
Pavillion angle - 40.8
HCA score - 1.3

Should I be concerned about the quality of cut for the "ideal" diamond? I would appreciate any feedback anyone may have. Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

JQ

p.s.
I HAVE looked at other places (WF, GOG, JA), I''m just concerned here about the difference between signature ideal vs. ideal. Thanks again.

Interesting. If anything, I''d think they would be labled the other way around.... However, both would be nice. We get a bit more info on the angles with the Signature stone, but the other is in a fairly safe area. So, I don''t know what the real difference is!

I didn''t buy their SI. But basically what it boils down to is that their signature ideal are their in-house stone unlike the normal ideals that virtual stones, being held by other vendors, and advertised by BN and probably several other online vendors.

That said, their in-house stones are purported to be Hearts and Arrows cut, but we are not given enough information on that to determine that ourselves. Also, these are separately graded by GCAL, for what it is worth.

So not, necessary a much better stone for the premium paid. Depends on your comfort level.

So basically that's the only reason for price difference here? (that we know of)

Thanks for the quick replies.

Stone-cold11,

Does this mean you bought a diamond from them? If so, was it Signature Ideal or Ideal Cut? Were you pleased with your investment/diamond? (Oh, and not to be too picky, but I believe both diamonds are VS -

Bought an Ideal, but is GIA Ex cut, so slightly deep, HCA 3.7, bought it before I come on this site. Oh well, learn as I go, got another CraftedbyInfinity H&A stone for the engagement. :P

If you don''t mind sharing, how do the two stack up when compared to each other? Thanks.

Always carefully evaluate any '' Ideal Cut'' diamond on its own desirable visual and physical properties, the term ideal cut especially if vendor applied is no guarantee of a well cut diamond.

Haven''t actually have the CraftedbyInfinity on hand yet. Still with Wink, waiting for my decision to set it. :P
