I just bought another sapphire. I have been looking to buy a Kashmir sapphire for a long time, and found it very expensive. Found this ''kashmir look-like'' in wildfishgems. It is unheated.
Got it this morning, and that blue is to die for! I am planning to set it in a ring setting that I already have, and will post pics when it is done.

Is that the one that they listed as Cambodian? I always thought that one had better color (in the photo at least) than anything else on his site, and if it''s like that in person it illustrates how important it is to buy the stone and not the origin.

Wow, that stone is gorgeous!!!!! Cant wait to see the finished piece

When looking at gemstone color, it is my understanding to never view them with trasmitted light, only reflected light. The reason for this simple. When the gemstone is set you will be looking at the gemstone with reflected light, not transmitted light as the image shows. You can get quite fooled by looking at transmitted color. Especially with dark toned gems such as sapphire!

dasnoop8,

I see your point.
However, I have the stone in my hand now, and it has a beautiful colour in reflected light. I''ll see if I can take some pictures tomorrow.

Wow, Anita! Just beautiful!

I want a cushion sapphire so much! I''ll have to keep an eye on the Wildfish Gems site! That is lovely! I''d never pay for Kashmir either.

Such a beautiful color!

Very pretty. I love the color.

SDL,

This was the setting I was planning to use for this stone. Now I am leaning towards doing a new setting in platinum. I think that blue will look very good in white metal

Oh Anita, I think that stone will look fabulous in white metal!!!! There''s just something about the coolness of the blue with white that really calls to me! I can''t wait to see what you get!

that is a stunning color! That will look great in a ring.

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of designing a setting in platinum for the stone. That will be in January. For the time being, I set it in the setting above. It is 18kt gold with platinum head. I had lots of fun taking pictures today. I am posting some of them here.
