Hi guys,

I am considering purchasing a Blue Nile Signature ideal cut princess diamond.

Does anyone have any views on the signature ideal cuts from Blue Nile?

Are they much nicer than a standard very good cut?

Thanks!

Hi there, I''d go with a Signature Ideal or an AGS Ideal. Also Whiteflash has the A Cut Above or Good Old Gold has in house diamonds. Either of those are nice.

I think the answer is that it depends. First I have to disclaim any knowledge about princess cuts though.

I have a Blue NIle signature ideal round -- it is beautiful, and is better cut than many stones out there. It is also an AGS 0.

However, I noticed while looking (for round diamonds) that not all Blue Nile "signature ideal" diamonds are made alike -- after plugging in the numbers to the Holloway cut advisor, I noticed that quite a few signature ideal diamonds scored well outside the "ideal" range!

I know there''s no HCA for princess cuts, but maybe there''s some way you can get other input regarding the diamond? People here seem to have had great luck posting stats and other info to get evaluations of princess cuts before buying.

Good luck with it!

Princess cuts really need to be judged by detailed photos and preferably an ASET image, as unfortunately the numbers don''t tell you much. Also I do not believe BN offer such services at the moment, so it could be easier to work with a vendor who has these aids available, plus an expert eye to help you choose.

Thanks guys.

How do the WF ACA''s compare to blue diamond signature ideals?

Thanks guys.

Those are a known quantity, diamonds cut to the highest standards which are handpicked by experts, with all the analysis done so you can make an informed decision as to what you are buying. Also these diamonds are often eligible for an upgrade policy which is a nice option to have. The SI diamonds from BN may be excellent diamonds, but it is preferable to have all the information available, unfortunately I don''t think BN even offer Idealscope images of their diamonds at this time.
