I am pretty new to the whole diamond thing, but I have won a bid and not yet paid for 1 diamond stud earring and I would like to see if it is worth the cost first, here are the credentials:

weght: .65 ctw
cut: princess
color: it just says fancy enhanced blue
clarity: I2

I am looking at spending $42 on this one earring, is it worth it?, if so, how much do you suppose it is worth? the site says $1500 but I know that is a huge stretch...any help would be much oblidged...

Do you have a picture?

yes, I tried uploading it from tinypic but it did not work, I will try again....

**bump** could anyone help me out on this one?

Hmmm... as the clarity suggests, the stone is heavily included. Not eye clean at all. I''m no expert by any stretch of the imagination, so I couldn''t even guess at what the stone is actually worth. Hopefully some experts here can weigh in.

Was this from an Ebay auction? Does it have any certification whatsoever? What is the seller''s feedback rating?

How are you intending on using this stone?

actually (and im sure ill get laughed at here for this...) It was on bidz.com, the site itself lists the items for auction, not individual sellers.....it does come with a certificate, and I plan on just taking it and selling it on ebay...I am not looking to make a fortune, but I should make some profit if I paid $70 for it right? by the way I mentioned above that I was only going to pay $40 but the gem and jewelery report is an extra $30

If you''ve won the bid, isn''t the value now a moot point. Don''t you HAVE to pay for it?

well I have five days before it gets relisted and I won''t be able to bid again until I call an 800 number and get the previous won auctions off of my list......

I have no opinion to offer, but thought I''d help you out by uploading the image for you.

I''m sorry, I just think it is horrible to bid on and win an auction without the intent to follow through with payment. It''s happened to me on ebay and makes me hopping mad!!

That is one ICKY stone.

as mentioned above this is not ebay, nor is it like ebay. the items are put up for auction by the company itself, not individual sellers......

It''s probably worth about what you paid for it. Sorry. It''s horribly included, and the blue isn''t natural, which takes away any added value that it being blue would give it.

Agreed, it's very included and bad quality. I don't think you'll profit on ebay, especially since a) the stone looks ugly, and b) you have to pay ebay and pay pal fees and those add up quickly and reduce profit.

Why would a person buy one earring anyway?

So, you think it's okay to stiff a company, just not a person?

And your plan was to turn around and sell it for a profit on ebay? Ever heard of Karma??

I must agree, trying to turn a profit on an I2 treated diamond is almost silly- especially when you''re doing the research AFTER you "won" the item from bidz.com .
Spend some time on this site, do some research and maybe with some patience you could find something to "turn a profit on", but I can almost promise you, it won''t come from a site like bidz :P
But hey, much luck!!

If you have such a low opinion of that website, why would you do business with them to begin with? And, why would you expect to get a deal on any item there?

You wouldn't be part of the financial industry looking for a temporary means of income while waiting for a government bailout?

I'm ending my participation in this thread so I don't blow this out of the water. And I would hate to insult your entreprenurial spirit.

Enhanced diamonds do have a value but nowhere near what a natural coloured diamond would be. However, people who buy enhanced diamonds will also look for clarity and I''m afraid that there are far too many inclusions in the diamond you''ve won. Ok, it''s an earring but in all honesty you''re unlikely to get more than you paid on Ebay. Sorry.

That''s one hell of an ugly diamond! It would fit on an ebay sale as we see a lot that look like the. Basically frozen spit. I have to admit if you broke even, I would be amazed, especially since it is only 1 earring and not a pair!!!

I wouldn''t expect much for $42 dollars. You won''t be getting ripped off since $42 is such a low amount for a diamond purchase, but it probably won''t be a pretty diamond...

Well lets see your willing to pay $42 and they are willing to sell it to you at that price therefor the value is $42 if you can find someone like you to sell it too.

I''d honestly say it''s only worth what you paid! So if it is acceptable on that site to cancel a transaction, I would recommend doing so.

Ha, exactly what I was thinking strm !

Not to mention what exactly would one do with one stud earring?

Not commenting on the stone or anything else here, really. It is indeed a very ugly diamond, and I don''t agree with your business practice. Just wanted to mention something to everyone else:

There are a lot of men who only wear one earring. Just as a side note.

Hi nocturnius - of course you are correct. Personally I don''t like earrings on guys, but when its a small diamond its quite tasteful imo.
I have never seen anything but a white diamond stud on a man - I''m not sure who''s taste this blue one would be.

To be brutally honest, I wouldn''t pay anything for it. It looks like it''s cut pretty bad and the inclusions stick out like you-know-what. I would def pass.
