Do you read a lot of blogs? What kind of blogs are you into? Do you WRITE one? What kind? I have a job that gives me HUGE lulls of downtime during the day, so I find myself reading a lot of them, fashion, lifestyle, tech, beauty, design. I started one, kind of as a timekiller, a while back. I suck at it, tremendously, mostly bec when I do it, my posts are like...marathons. But I am so irregular.

I really love some of the ones I read, and was curious what other people were into.

I read and subscribe to several teacher blogs, and I started my own this year as another way of communicating with my students' parents. I occasionally check out a few design and organization blogs when I have the time. It can definitely become way too time consuming!

I'm terrible about going to blogs while on conference calls. The blogs I visit regularly are:

Young House Love
Sweaters for Days (she also publishes e books that I read)
The Blogess
Crappy Pictures
Reasons my son is crying
SmittenKitchen

So basically home/cooking/parenting blogs

And when she was posting more regularly, I would go to Hyperbole and a Half

I always visit Postsecret on Monday mornings.

She recently posted a long comic about her absence. Bloody brilliant. I hope she continues to stay well.
Have you checked out 'The Oatmeal'?

I am a blog addict. I started reading a random one which led me to another and another. They aren't famous bloggers or anything, mostly just moms. Also for some reason I read a lot of infertility blogs (I find the science fascinating). Which means I also know way more about infertility treatments than any normal person should.

I saw her post--I follow her on Twitter and when she tweeted that she was posting, I dropped everything else I was doing to read her update. She is truly talented.

I also read hyperbole and a half. I was so glad to see her update on facebook. The first post I read I read was the one where she does doggie IQ tests with her pup. I cried, I was laughing so hard. I hope she continues to get well. She's talented and relatable.

Eta: I tried some of the dog IQ tests after I read her post. My dog failed most of them :wacko: this is a pic of Charlie after he gave up trying to get a piece of cheese from under the clear plastic cup. See the cheese? It's right in front of him. He's forlorn.

Have to say - I occasionally lurk on the "handbag forum" and always love the advice you give on bling. Keep up the good work! It's funny how many people think high color and clarity are the only marks of quality in a diamond.

I love poor Charlie, there! He's darling. My Charlie (she's a girl, though, real name Charlotte) would crunch that plastic cup into confetti -- get the cheese? No problem!

I read a lot of blogs -- jewelry & gem ones, Civil War & Russian history blogs, 2 on dollhouses that are fantastic, 2 cooking blogs, bunches of them on antique houses or furniture, interior design, and fashion blogs. Don't check in on all often, but a few I do keep up with regularly. I read about 3 of them daily. It is fun to follow from one blog to recommended others -- you find out all sorts of crazy things.

Have thought of doing one myself -- can't figure how to focus it; I have too many interests.

LOVE Hyperbole and a Half! And Captain Awkward. And Fugitivus (though I believe she's suspended her journal). And Forksplit (who hasn't so much officially "suspended" anything as "just kind of trailed off," sadly. Also love The Hairpin, particularly their jewelry column.

But my bestest most recent find? DIAMONDS IN THE LIBRARY. That woman is, if you will pardon the expression, a gem.

I did see that her book was done as well, so hopefully some of her time away she got that accomplished as well. But I am glad she's back and on the way out of this.

I also love Young House Love, and I LOVE Reasons my son is crying. I sent that to my sister because it was SO APPROPRIATE for my nephew.

Aww thanks! I definitely try to help out on there and it is SO FRUSTRATING when people only truly believe that color and clarity and BRAND are the only way to find high quality and can't see the forest through the trees! I get wanting the brand and that's the dream, great, we can work with that. But don't be caught up believing it's THE BEST. Because clearly we've shown, REPEATEDLY, it's NOT.

I generally read perfume blogs and news blogs.

I read a ton of cooking blogs. Some of my favorite blogs though include:
101 cookbooks
smitten kitchen
The Pioneer Woman cooks
Hyperbole and a Half
Reasons my Son is Crying
Lauren Conrad
Style me Pretty
Sprouted Kitchen
Moneysavingmom

Here a a few that I read regularly.

* Bad Astronomy.
By an astronomer who posts about (duh) astronomy, movies (with some fun ribbing about how crap the science is), and science in the
news.

* It's Okay To Be Smart.
By a biologist who posts about cool science.

* The Wisdom of Chopra.
Hilarious 'quotes' generated by randomly picking words from Chopra's actual twitter feed. Shows how Chopra is full of word salad BS.

* Pharyngula.
By a biologist who posts about evolution, development, atheism, and random biology.

* Preposterous Universe.
By a physicist who posts about physics and anything else he finds interesting.

* Why Evolution Is True.
By a biologist who posts about biology, science in the news, atheism, and whatever he feels like posting.

* Greta Christina's Blog.
By a professional writer who posts about feminism, LGBT issues, social justice, atheism, and sex.

* Science Based Medicine.
By a group of doctors, a chiropractor, a pharmacist, and a veterinarian who post about science and medicine.
I found this one particularly interesting in regards to how alt med is just so much magical thinking and BS.

* I F--king Love Science.
By a woman who loves science.

* Fit and Feminist.
By a woman who writes about fitness from a feminist perspective.

For news I go between the BBC, Reuters, Al Jazeera, and a couple of local news sites.

This is such an interesting thread!
