Bling wishlist/projects for 2025

1. Mom’s emerald is with the setting vendor. Working on the design. This is one of the projects I want done more than other projects so I feel like I am making good use of resources notwithstanding metal prices going up and stone prices falling.

2. Waiting a bit on diamond prices to see whether to go with another FCD this year. It is tempting to move forward now since this is another collection goal that I want to complete more than I want other projects. But the cost of doing it now versus later might not be worth the trade off of crossing it off my list.

3. Can’t say for sure that I want to reset the asscher more than I want other things. It’s only January though.

1. Mom’s emerald is pending!

2. Do not like the price of FCD at the moment. Scratch this idea.

3. Might still re-set the asscher this year. It would be platinum so the price of gold is less relevant. But I have two projects started and with the tariff stuff going on, I might not get to this one.

Here’s mine:
1. Eternity band to go with my sapphire ring.
2. Upgrade the ACA - new setting matches the thickness of the sapphire ring so it can go with the eternity ring too.
3. 5 stone band
4. Yellow step cut sapphire ring.

I’ve been wanting a curb chain and I just bought one - waiting for it to come in to make sure it’s actually what I want because I’m a little particular about them.

I also have a sapphire coming in from Dan Stair to turn into a pendant for said curb chain.

With gold prices and the abysmal CAN-US exhange rate I just can’t pull the trigger on a custom jewelry project right now… and I could never quite settle on what I wanted to do with my small stones from Yvonne.

So I changed gears for my pendant project. I have a lovely half carat diamond left from my five stone project so I decided to set that. A new Stuller setting was going to cost me $1k CAD locally so I found this gorgeous Art Nouveau 15k gold piece instead for half the price and far more presence. I bought it to replace the central amethyst with my diamond but I’m not totally sure about that yet. It’s so pretty as is… I might use the diamond and add a drop pearl… or leave it. Anyway, pendant project almost complete!

Complete! Still need to decide on a style of gold chain and may replace the bail at some point, but enjoying it as-is for now.

2024 was an excellent bling year, but I also spent a TON, so 2025 needs to be a bit toned down imo!

I really only have two things on my list, one of which is a holdover from the previous year:

- an emerald cocktail ring, I’ve got some ideas of designs I’ve been sketching out. I want something really interesting with a lot of presence!

- a tahitian pearl tin-cup necklace - I obtained a Tahitian pearl bracelet for an absolute song, and I want to turn it into a necklace because I know I won’t wear the bracelet. Maybe with some fun diamond stations, perhaps also a pair of earrings to match.

So far that’s it, but let’s see if something else makes it on the list! I don’t always complete the projects I put on my list lol - I remember last year I had ideas of a wide RG cigar band for example, that never materialised.

Here’s my mid-year update:

I finalised the design for my emerald cocktail ring, but the final iteration will come once I’ve acquired the gem itself, since I’m open to multiple shapes! Have finally decided to keep it simple with a single emerald and white diamonds only. I want a classic ring I can wear all the time. The goal is a 4-7ct emerald, likely Zambian (I like darker greens), up to moderate oil is fine! But I fear this project is on the back burner again as I am currently saving up for TWO projects, yet again lol.

My other project that sort of materialised out of nowhere - a substantial tennis bracelet! I waffled between earrings and a bracelet but I just did earrings last year. So I think a bracelet is a better bet. I have my eye on a tennis bracelet and I’m aggressively saving up for it as I have a deal with my jeweller that if I buy it in <6 months he will honour the old price (the piece has been repriced up by about 7.5% since he first had it on display, but he would give me that 7.5% discount); subject of course to no one else coming in to buy it! I’m hopeful no one will as someone did have it on hold/approval when I’d originally gone in to browse bracelets but decided not to keep it.

The tin cup necklace should be finished soon! I decided to keep it simple and classic again, and just did the simple tin cup with some small diamond stations in between. Needed a quick, inexpensive project to sink my teeth into :D

After this I am definitely done. I hope to have the bracelet home this year, and will only actively start looking for an emerald when the bracelet is mostly saved up for.

My wishlist is simple this year, as I’ve realized I am not a person to change out her jewelry. I’ve gotten most of my solid, core pieces.
• rose gold carabiner for my rose cut garnet chain
• a matching band for my moissanite ring, rose gold
• a ring based off an item in my favorite video game, in rose gold and garnets

and in an absolutely perfect world, I have my eye on a beautiful 1.18 carat j color natural diamond. Super special because we got married January 2018 and DH’s name starts with a J.

An update!

I checked off the matching band to my AVC moissanite and *sort of* checked off a 1.18 carat ring, but it’s a green sapphire instead of a diamond. It was the perfect sapphire in every way and I couldn’t afford to pass it up. Finding 1.18 J color diamonds is easy, finding the perfect 1.18 unheated sapphire in the perfect color is rare!

Wow thank you for your update. I have found myself starting to look at emeralds too! I can't wait to see the finished piece.

Hahaha that bracelet sounds amazing! Fingers crossed you can get it within the next 6 months because what is better than bling.. bling for a discount! LOL.

We definitely need photos of the tin cup necklace!

I am okay with carrying over projects into next year!

Oh that's one thing I have been looking into lately as well. Unheated sapphire that is the right size, shape and colour that you want is definitely harder to find than a J colour diamond. So good pick up. Please show us the green sapphire :)

I don’t post pics of my finished pieces tbh but I am happy to post pics of my design if you like, if it helps you with your emerald project!

Oh yes but also I think it would be helpful to post the actual emerald you pick as well. I often stalk the CS thread but haven't seriously researched it enough. Thank you for sharing!

Here's my current iteration of the doodle. I didn't want a simple halo and I didn't want a 3-stone but I wanted something wearable. The issue with a 2 stone however, is that if you want one of the stones to be diamond you need a pretty huge diamond if your emerald is going to be something like 4-5ct... so the diamond would need a halo. But a simple halo-ed diamond and emerald combo didn't seem exciting enough for me... so I decided to pair a rectangular step cut emerald with a pear cut diamond, but used marquises for the halo entirely, in an asymmetrical offset kind of design. My goal is to have both stone/stone clusters on either edge of the finger, which if I've done my math correctly, should leave barely any space in the middle. I don't plan to have a band show. I used diamond shapes to signify marquises.

It should be here tomorrow!

I am debating with myself whether to spend the money on a strand of blue Tahitians or to get a sub-1.00ct natural/earth-mined heart cut diamond and set it into a right hand ring in Platinum.

I am leaning towards the pearls as I already have 3 RHRs with diamonds in Platinum, and am going to set a 8mm gold coin with a snake motif commemorating the Year of the Snake this year as another RHR in Platinum with a small paved diamond halo.

DK :))
